Thankfully, I woke up Saturday morning feeling more like myself. Jarrett was kind enough to let us sleep until 7:30, so that was nice. We quickly ate our Special K with strawberries (Jarrett's fav cereal), and I hopped in the shower while Jarrett watched a Dora video. We had to leave by 8:30 to pick Brandon up from a lock-in at the church. He had a great time, but had not slept AT ALL throughout the night.
They had lots of food for the kids, ping pong tables, air hockey, a movie, and each person drew a time that they would spend 15 minutes or so at the alter in prayer. Brandon's time was 1:30 a.m. If you were asleep at your time to pray, then someone would wake you. I'll have to remember this activity for the next church we attend after moving. Now that I am finished with school, I am hoping to have a more active role with the children's school and church involvement.
Needless to say, Brandon fell into bed just minutes after we arrived home. Emily, Hunter and I grabbed a quick picnic lunch and headed to my mother-in-laws for a nice visit out on her deck. After lunch the kido's enjoyed rolling down the big hill while we spent time weeding her flower bed. It was a nice visit, but we had to cut it short in order to get Jarrett home to nap.
While he napped, I woke Brandon to have him help me clean and paint the floor in the new upstairs bedroom. We continue making small home improvements in order to make it even more appealing to a prospective buyer. We got it completely finished, let it dry, and moved the furniture in. WOW! We love it! We did have a short break when DJ's aunt and uncle came for a visit. During that time, my little "Picaso" (a.k.a. Jarrett), decided to paint the white walls in the new room with the brown floor paint. Grrrr.........I was not happy, but I managed to keep my cool, and smile, knowing that one day we would look back at this and laugh. Little booger!!!
Sunday was another full day as we moved everyone's bed and disturbed the 18 inches of dust bunnies under each one. I wanted to get everything cleaned before the movers came and saw how long it had been since I had cleaned under beds! You know...........you can't let anyone know how you "really live", right? So now I can keep my deceiving image as a mother of 5 that has an immaculate home, bakes all from scratch, healthy meals, and never raises her voice to her perfect little children. Hee Hee!!
One last tidbit before I close. As I was making my bed this morning, Hunter bounced in to the room and made my head spin with this comment, "Mom, did you know that I would rather touch poop, than eat spinich"? Normally, I encourage his conversations and love to see how his little mind works. Today, however, I just smiled and left this one alone!!
