I was going through and reading blogs the other day and came across this on Kris's blog
"She's skilled in the crafts of home and hearth, diligent in homemaking.
She's up before dawn, organizing her day. First thing in the morning, she dresses for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started. She shops around for the best yarns, and enjoys knitting. She senses the worth of her work, is in no hurry to call it quits for the day. She keeps an eye on everyone in her household, and keeps them all busy and productive. Her children respect and bless her; her husband joins in with words of praise. A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than diamonds." (from The Message, parts of Proverbs 31) Oh how I long to be that type of women of Proverbs, for many years I still try, sometime succeed while other times I fail. Beautiful words to live by and to share with others. And to make it an important part of your life.
Kris has started something that you might be interested in called Rubies Monday , and like the word states it is a *gem*.
I did joined and thought about it for awhile that maybe I am a tad to old for the group, being a grandmother and not a "stay at home mom" with our empty nest , maybe the group was geared for more the younger moms and families. My reason for joining was to share with my DD who is a SAHM and home schools. She doesn't have a good working PC and her hands are full with 4 that are 5 yrs and younger.
Kris's reply :
Linda, I hope you will join us as I'm sure we can all learn from you! Just answer this week's questions regarding your schedule when you had kids. It always helps to have some Titus 2 women around :-) .
My heart did a leap, being a Titus 2 women was the nicest words to be called, so let me share what that title is all about.
Titus 2 (King James Version)
1But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 2That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. 3The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 6Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. 7In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. 9Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; 10Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. Thank You very much Kris So heres the link button to come and join and the first questions about me that Kris wanted the group to share. Check it out , make Proverbes 31 your goal as wife and mother to the people you love and care about. Then as you age as the beautiful person God intended for you to be, claim the Titus 2 women in your life.
Give some general info about your family: # of kids and ages (if you feel comfortable giving that info out), # of years as a SAHM, does your husband work at home or outside the home? My DH and I have been married 28 yrs this coming Saturday, we have 3 kids , 26,25 , and 22. , 4 grand babies. We are empty nesters , but love it when the family comes to visit. I was a stay at home mom, worked out of my home with a family business, still do. I did have to go in a couple of times a week to meet clients , but my Mom or DH, would care for the kids on those's days. I did have a friend that would watch the kids for about a year on the days family could not, but I sure was glad to get back home. I missed them so even for half a day. DH works away from home, but I have plenty of honeydo projects, he loves going to work ,lol - Do you work in or outside of the home? If so, how many hours per week and what is your schedule like? I have a workshop but I do go in town/city to meet clients. At home I pretty much can call my own time, work and take breaks , check the animals , walk on the trails, garden, play with the grandkids. I'm busy doing many things, I love it.
- What helps you get through your week? Do you use a planner or "to-do" list? Are you organized or do you fly by the seat of your pants? I like to work under pressure, I tend to get a lot of things done at that time. I would like to keep a list but never have the time to sit down and do one. Oh that is just an excuss. I would like to be organized and heading that way, but most the time I wing it and just get things done. - Do your children help around the house? Chores? Cooking? If they don't do much, do you wish they did more? When the kids were home they did help out but school ativites really kept them busy with homework and all the other things they got into, church, sports ,band, etc. It didn't hurt them because the end result is what tells the tale, they are all responsible and do a really better job then I did/do. What do you want to do better? What area of your life is a stumbling block for you? Would you like prayer for a specific thing this week? I want to better organized , taking care of what I have been Blessed with. Letting go of material things that I have not used and probably will not use. Maybe in others hands it will be put to use. One can't do it all , so this will go with my cleaning things up and organizing. I have prayed on this and I see it happening. A prayer this week. I would ask that all my friends here that read this and love ones here at home have the most Joyous Holiday, that things slow down and that we take it all in and be Blessed. linda |

Subject: Science vs God This is a very thought provoking question and answer session regarding science vs. faith. Science vs. God "Let me explain the problem science has with Jesus Christ." The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand. "You're a Christian, aren't you, son?" "Yes sir," the student says. "So you believe in God?" "Absolutely." "Is God good?" "Sure! God's good." "Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?" "Yes." "Are you good or evil?" "The Bible says I'm evil." The professor grins knowingly. "Aha! The Bible!" He considers for a moment. "Here's one for you. Let's say there's a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?" "Yes sir, I would." "So you're good...!" "I wouldn't say that." "But why not say that? You'd help a sick and maimed person if you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn't." The student does not answer, so the professor continues. "He doesn't, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him How is this Jesus good? Hmmm? Can you answer that one?" The student remains silent. "No, you can't, can you?" the professor says. He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax. "Let's start again, young fella Is God good?" "Er Ah.....yes," the student says. "Is Satan good?" The student doesn't hesitate on this one. "No." "Then where does Satan come from?" The student : "From...God..." "That's right. God made Satan, didn't he? Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?" "Yes, sir." "Evil's everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything, correct?" "Yes." "So who created evil?" The professor continued, "If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil." Without allowing the student to answer, the professor continues: "Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist in this world?" The student: "Yes." "So who created them?" The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his question. "Who created them? There is still no answer. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is mesmerized. "Tell me," he continues onto another student. "Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?" The student's voice is confident: "Yes, professor, I do." The old man stops pacing. "Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen Jesus?" "No sir. I've never seen Him" "Then tell us if you've ever heard your Jesus?" "No, sir, I have not." "Have you ever actually felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God for that matter?" "No, sir, I'm afraid I haven't." "Yet you still believe in him?" "Yes." "According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?" "Nothing," the student replies. "I only have my faith." "Yes, faith," the professor repeats. "And that is the problem science has with God. There is no evidence, only faith." The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a question of his own. "Professor, is there such thing as heat?" "Yes," the professor replies. "There's heat." "And is there such a thing as cold?" "Yes, son, there's cold too." "No sir, there isn't." The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested. The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain. "You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat, but we don't have anything called 'cold'. We can hit up to 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the lowest -458 degrees. Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of heat. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it." Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom, sounding like a hammer. "What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as darkness?" "Yes," the professor replies without hesitation. "What is night if it isn't darkness?" "You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use to define the word. In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?" The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him. This will be a good semester. "So what point are you making, young man?" "Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed." The professor's face cannot hide his surprise this time. "Flawed? Can you explain how?" "You are working on the premise of duality," the student explains. "You argue that there is life and then there's death; a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it." "Now tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?" "If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do" "Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?" The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed. "Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a preacher?" The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the commotion has subsided. "To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean." The student looks around the room. "Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor's brain?" The class breaks out into laughter. "Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain, felt the professor's brain, touched or smelled the professor's brain? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, with all due respect, sir. So if science says you have no brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir?" Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the student, his face unreadable. Finally, after what seems an eternity, the old man answers. "I guess you'll have to take them on faith." "Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists with life," the student continues. "Now, sir, is there such a thing as evil?" Now uncertain, the professor responds, "Of course, there is. We see it everyday. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil." To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light." The professor sat down. |

BUZZARD If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top. BAT The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkably nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash. BUMBLEBEE A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It neve! r sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself. PEOPLE In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up. Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But Faith looks up. June 6,2007
April 13, 2007 That's what my sister and I was going to do today after we did our work . We went to the animal shelter and found the perfect little dog for our aunt, the picture is my sisters dog
On an after thought I put up this poll, never did a poll before, looks like fun, so here's one on pets, have fun. How did you get your pets?
April 23, 2007 I received a message today from one of my Yahoo 360 friends , (asunnyfield) stating "Whatca doin' special for Earth Day?" That got me thinkin, I really wasn't planning anything today, nothing different then the usual.
I thought and thought and the more I did that I wanted to do something that would impact the earth to the good in my little space of the world. Build a wind mill, put up some solar panels, cool, but no can do right now, those things cost a bit. But there are things I can do in a small way, and that's what I think the message is about on Earth Day, we all can do something that will make the world a little cleaner everyday and without cost and really to much effort. Just picking up after ourselves and recycling, walking ,planting gardens , theres so much one can do. My friend asunnyfield is walking today and picking up trash, awesome. You'll find her blog on the right side of MY PAGE along with others that share interesting and informing sites as well as their adventures during the day. Picking up trash today will be a task for sure, we are under a tornado watch north of us and the wind is dangerous, especially in the woods with tree limbs. Not going anywhere today I would say will help out a wee bit. What if everyone stayed home for just one day, now that would be a big impact. My Dh is helping out, he's been napping pretty much of the day, says he's saving energy, lol. We keep the electric down to a medium. I would like to put back up the clothes line that I do miss. Just need to find a different spot sense we are doing some landscaping and putting in an outdoor kitchen. That will save to, cooking outside with wood that is down fall from the winds. Never really have to bring down the live trees, the broken limbs are enough. Many things like an organic garden that feed many of us and less travel to the stores. Recycle our trash is down to a small medium with composting and recycling The woods are left alone for animal habitat. And this in turn helps the earth. With a lot of our neighbors cutting all their trees down for pasture, cuts into air quality , windbreaks, shelter from the hot summers, animal habitats, every action causes an effect. Someday I would like us to be on solar, we're passive solar now in our earthcontact, most the time in winter the sun warms the house, with nothing more then the sun shinning in. Nice to turn off the furnish, and save gas. We burn wood and that's at night, even then that is all we need. On my organic homesteading group OHG, tenzi (see both of these sites on my blogroll) has challenge us to change our incandescent lightbulbs for one compact fluorescent to make a difference. My DH has been doing this for about a year now, the first time and I didn't know he did was in the hallway. Walking down the hall I had thought, boy my eyes are getting bad, now thank heavens it was the bulb. It has made a difference, why would we need a bright light to just walk down a hall. I'm not sold on the one he exchange where I knit by tho : (. I'll slip in a brighter one sometime when hes not looking, lol. There's so much we can do to make an impact on our earth that is a privilege to live on. We are and should be stewards of the earth. Its a gift to be taken care of. I think what if centuries ago they were able to do the things we are doing to the earth today and we would have to live in it, how much worst it would be if it started back then. Well think about what the next generations to come will be living in if we don't start getting our mess cleaned up. We can and will make a difference, lets make a good one!!!!! Thanks for dropping by. Blessings to you linda
Did The Math Work?
May 3, 2007 Screen doors and windows are coming back. What about screens doors
May 13,2007 Had a rough weekend, lost a dear friend Saturday. Debby from my organic homestead gardening group OHG. She will be missed by many. She always made me laugh and we would cut up once in awhile. We'd e-m about our homestead going on's. Oh how she loved to garden and was loaded with information and help for others on our group. I never met Debby in person, but felt I knew her for a life time. She and her family lives in Kentucky, I always hoped to go see her one day. Just was not meant to be.
I'll miss my friend. Debby's last e-m we were saying how much we wanted to have a real nice digital camera, I have a cheapo one and she was even interested in getting her one. But our real wants was having a good camera. Almost had her getting her own blog. She would come over and read mine and wonder how I had time to do a blog, late nights sometimes!!! She would have had so much fun telling of her days. Well Debby knew how much I wanted to get a camera and lo and behold today for Mothers Day my kids pitched in together and got me a camera!!!! I was so surprised, It was a big ticket item for the kids. Mothers Day is usually rose bushes to plant which I love and got them too!!!!. But deep down I feel it was Debby's spirit that intervened with the help of getting that camera for me. Its something special not only from the kids but a memory of Debby from our last conversation and every picture will be in memory of her. My sister gave me little white roses and I planted them in my garden in memory of Debby, they were givin in love by my sister and planted in love of friendship that will be a life time growing. Debby sent me some tomato seeds (Stupice) a new tomato for me, and these are growing in my garden, the seeds will be saved and passed on to others, there will be a little sign in the garden next to the plants Debby's Stupice Tomatoes . I have garlic from OHG founder , growing and there will be a sign next to his garlic. I have my Dad's horseradish plants, and my grandmothers flowers and different things that were passed on. These all will have a sign to share who and where they came from. Saturday was our Granddaughters first T-Ball game, oh was that something to see, those little guys are so cute, tryin to hit the ball and running, some of them wanted to run to third base instead of first, others didn't know what they were suppose to do after they hit the ball off the stick. Never ever in my wildest dreams I would think I would be at a T-ball game with 4 grandkiddies, you just never know. Mothers Day was spent out at my sisters and BIL. We had a great dinner, wild turkey and pheasant and all the fixins that a Thanksgiving would be like. Our Mom and our Aunt was there along with the kids and the grandkids. Our son was the only one missing. But he sent an e-m all the way from another country. It was a hot ol day so the kids played in the water. My sister made a miniature golf course in her back pasture, I know , you don't see that everyday, but as I was holding our new little grandson, I watched while the kids and grownups played golf. Sis made her mini golf course with an African theme, theres a hut that she makes flavored icies, very refreshing. I took many pictures with my new camera , but got to read really a lot of stuff to see what this can do, its got a thing to make movies and voice sounds to. Today was a beautiful day, reflecting on a dear friend and blessings of my beautiful family. Having my Mom at 80 yrs and her sister who's less then a couple of years younger. When DH and I got home it was in the garden and planted my rose bushes, the little white ones, a climbing yellow which will grow over an arbor in the entrance to the garden, and a pinkish purple that is in the far end of the garden. Got 60 tomato plants in and about 140 more to go. Made a salad from the different lettuces and radishes and onions, and someday will be eating tomatoes. All have a good week coming, if you knew Debby from OHG , hugs to you cuz I know you are missing her too. She has a strong family and they will carry on. Drop by again and I'll be able to have some nice pictures. Thanks Kids and Debby I'll never forget , you'll be in my heart forever. Blessings linda May 23, 2007
We went out to sisters and B-in-laws homestead today. Brought our fresh dressed out chickens for grilling. The dinner was great and the meat so good and tender. Mom said you couldn't get it any fresher, well yes you could of, yesterday when we butchered, but thats a little to fresh. I usually don't like to eat the meat for sometime. Theres this smell of wet chicken feathers and all the smells that come with it that makes me not hungry for chicken or anything for that matter.
I said a Thanksgiving before the butcher of the critters , that I'm grateful it will feed our family. Even our garden has life and it gives to us to, so I'm very grateful for the bounty and Blessed that we can have a garden. Storms came again today and lots of rain, one of the clouds looked like a funnel forming, see picture here Yahoo! Photos - Storms Clouds but it soon went up , it was so calm and the sky had that greenish look to it and a weird feeling. But we just got rain, good deal. We didn't play golf but walked around and took pictures, I helped sis figure out her new camera just like mine, lol. There was a mom turkey and her babies coming out of the field once in awhile but I never did see them. My BIL telling me quick get a camera, time I got there they were gone. She has family and friends come out and in the evenings it is all lit up and so pretty. She went with an African theme, heres pictures of her golf course, Its a fun place. Yahoo! Photos - Sisters Mini Golf Course DH and I like to go the long way home, well take that back I really do. I'm in no hurry to get on the hwy. The country roads are much more scenic. Theres a lot of old barns still standing, but they won't be much longer, I took a pic of this one here on my blog, its a pretty location. Havin a laid back late afternoon , evening, Put all the animals to bed, checked the garden after the rains. Made those beans and corn come up from just this morning. Peppers and tomatoes are going to town too!!!! I'm thinking of all the things I can bring to the farmers market , and things to make like gift baskets, Idea from Jon in OHG organichomesteadinggardening : AAA Organic Homesteading & Gardening . I plan on going on Sat. but can't set up until T-Ball games are over, 4 more games I think. Grandkids take precedent over farmers market. I could go on Wed. but I need to work in real business that makes the money so I can do things like farmers market. But I plan to stop by early Sat morning, pay my fee and get acquainted with the other venders and see how one does this, so much to learn. I will probably wing most of it. Staying tomorrow and working, could get more rains tomorrow. Going to be another busy week. Do some reading tonight and hit the sack early maybe!!! All take good care Blessings linda May 31, 2007 I couldn't believe it when tenzi editor of Down to the Roots magazine
Down to the Roots Organic Homesteading Magazine get 'back to your roots', organic living, green lifestyles, raising livestock, gardening and so much more. put on a contest in her forum guessing the closest date to her cows delivery. And I had the closest date, : ). I even guessed it to be a girl. WTG Daisy!!!!!!! The mama cow is Daisy and her calf Blossom, Daisy Blossom, isn't that cute names. The above picture is Daisy looking at probably tenzi taking the picture and the little calf getting some rest. Theres more pictures on tenzi blog of the two. Yahoo! 360° - tenzicut's Homesteading Blog Just scroll down a few days until you see the cows. Theres quite a story in her blogs about this cow named Daisy Now the contest is not over, theres 2 more cows that we have guessed the date of delivery. The prize that I will receive is a DTTR T-shirt. I plan on wearing my new t-shirt at my Farmers Market stand. I'm promoting homestading with fresh organic veggies and herbs. And wearing DTTR T-shirt I will look professional and buyers and lookers will know I mean the real McCoy when I speak of homesteading. I also plan on a few of tenzi's magazines on my stand as well. I'm so excited about tenzi's magazine. If your familiar with Mother Earth News , DTTR magazine, only on its second year had top billing over Mother Earth News a couple of weeks ago. Is that not something. tenzi you should be proud of what you have done in such a short time. And not only that her mag goes to over 8 countries. You might check tenzi's website, as she still may offer a free sample of her magazine. Its one of those magazines that really get down to the roots of the subject. I highly recommend it. Homestead update: Been working in the shop, not to much in the garden, its just keeps growing. Soon it will be putting up garden harvest, When things start coming on theres no let up. Suppose to get rains tomorrow , going to turn in early. So night all Blessings to you linda |
