Our daughters wedding was Sat, May 31st. Our son was home for a couple of weeks leave from the Navy and left yesterday , sniff. Rehearsal evening went well, oh some horsein around and kids playin in the field and looking at the cattle. Lots of food and people, gosh we could have pulled off a wedding at that time and skip the next day, but sure glad we didn't cuz if was awesome.
This tent was so pretty at night with little white lights all around
Those that got chairs dug in fast
The little ones hit the dance floor , Looks like they are doing a line dance, showing brother how its done. It needed to be dark before us olders one cut a rug.
Ok the cupcakes:
I felt bad for the cake designer and the same time felt really bad for our daughter, after all this is her wedding. The best part and I think the most important part is our daughter said it will be ok and gave me a kiss and it was. She is beautiful inside and out. Heres DD after she got back, our Ggirls play T-ball so she made it to the game, she might be a married women now but she is still our baby girl.

Happy Birthday to our oldest granddaughter. She turned 6 yrs old today, wow.
She will have a skating party on Saturday and she wants to see her grandparents skate. Yippers I haven't skated for a very long time. Last time dh and I danced skated together, it was ok, but I have a hard time skating backwards so I did the leading. Now I can go fast and do twirls like theres no tomorrow( well I use to) , but backwards skating , forget it. Dh's Birthday was yesterday and we had chili and a little surprise b-day party for him. We had fun Little grandson looks like he's ready for ice cream and cake
We woke up to a blanket snow . I called granddaughter to wish her a happy birthday and did she see what God sent her on her b-day , beautiful snow. She likes the snow but she is really excited about her party on Saturday.
I remember this time when dd and sil brought their little baby girl home, there was snow on the ground then , so this has been a very speacial day, Happy Birthday sweetie. Blessing linda |

A Day Of Happy News Day of happy news, our son who's been over in Iraq , in the Navy got home back to the states today, Whahooooooo. He couldn't tell us much , like his location or when he was coming home when he would e-m or be able to use cell phones over in Iraq. But he is here and almost home, just a few states over. I looked toward the west as the sun went down today and said hes just right over there. We have missed him so.
On his way back to the states they stopped off in Ireland, said he bought me some Irish Mead, hummmm. Never tasted mead before, its a honey wine he said and in a bottle that I will like. I reuse pretty bottles for vinegar's and such. I'm drinking a nice cup of hot cocoa right now, with the door open its so nice and cool and the night sounds , coyotes just awhile ago. They get frisky this time of year and you can hear them most every cool nights. Another thing that is frisky and dangerous is the deer, bucks in particular. Its dumb buck season and they do get a little goofy. Sis and I were heading home and one buck with the biggest rack almost ran into my side of the window which was open, so I heard its hooves and seen its antlers coming at me. I could have touched them they where that close. It was night so it was a surprise when those deer jump out. Nobody or deer was hurt , just startled. We had a family friend killed by a buck doing the same thing coming through her passenger window. Very tragic. I hate to see animals getting killed by traffic, it can be so dangerous for all concerned , so do be careful and keep sharp eyes out when traveling this autumn. This weather is awesome, and the leaves are coloring up everyday. We will be going on our weekend trip and sleep in tipi's . Its suppose to be nice in the daytime 70's and high to middle 50's at night. Hope we are going on the peak of autumn showing but it still could be another week tell that happens. We'll have a happy tipi with our son being back home , we'll laugh and take lots of pictures to show him. Well its hard to top that good news about our son back home from Iraq, but I got some kitchen good news. Can one have kitchen good news, will yes why not. Ok I have always wanted a gas heavy duty range and oven. This new electric counter top range is not cutting it for major canning. I put on a big pan of water for hot baths for the maters and it sounds like its cracking and breaking the elements. SOOOO yesterday I was at my friends who is also a client, who caters. She is getting a cherry red gas range stove. where talkin a $12,000 big boy . Now I just made a comment about her only a year and a half old gas Wolf range. She said "you want it I'll sell it cheap to you!!!!!" She said it was a $7000 , and she got it wholesale for $4000. I heard those figures and already knew a NO Thank You was going to come out of my mouth. "I can let you have it for $800. and you can do it in work for me". We'er takin barter here!!!! And that includes all the extras that she bought for it :). I was in a state of WOW. Something that I have wanted for many years will be in my kitchen by November. She said it can bake 300 cookies at once, its a great stove and I'm excited to make my kitchen the harvest kitchen I always wanted. I see my girls cooking on it more then I but I do like the heaviness for canning so it will be will worth it. She is giving me her dishwasher as well, oh my, haven't had one of those for sometime. I still like to wash by hand tho. but I'll use it to hide duty dishes, lol. Now on another note, on kitchens. I see many homes with huge kitchens, kitchens that look like pieces of furniture for cabinets and all the fancy stuff you can think of to cook with . Fridges with glass doors that you can see all the foods or crystal clear drinking water, now that looks pretty good. But I like to hide what's in my fridge, what if its growing fuzz or something, I don't want anyone to see that, nope I like fridge doors that you can't see through. But lets talk size. A big kitchen is nice but were takin walking , many mile maybe if your fixin dinner for a big family. And the truth of the matter I have seen more food come out of the tiniest kitchens then the bigger ones ever did. Oh if I'm in a clients home its usually pizza night or something that is nuked. Not to much cookin goin on. My Mom has a small counter and she uses her table and she cans up a storm and cooks one up to. She uses every inch of her kitchen. There use to be an editor that wrote cooking articles in the newspaper, we did work for her and she had one of the tiniest kitchens ever and here she was preparing foods for article right ups. Its not how big a kitchen is or what you got in it. But that you use it and create foods that will be remembered and craved for. I think that's why Thanksgiving is so special for many. You cook and cook and the smells and flavors of the Thanksgiving dinner stays on the hearts and minds for a long time, so good it is that we crave for more. But just Thanksgiving mind you , that's a lot of cookin, ok ok Christmas and other Holidays to. My favorite kitchen was an old farmhouse that my folks rented, it was big, and even bigger cuz all we could afford was a fridge, the kind you had to use an ice pic to get one ice tray in. They had an electric stove there already and I can still remember that smell every time we turned it on. It had a red top and chrome legs table , oh my you remember those, but had no chairs, so we stood around standing eating our food. We mostly ate outside sittin on the porch steps, no chairs out there either : /. One time Mom made some pumpkin pies , a couple of them and she had them set out on the table. We all had to go somewhere, it wasn't Thanksgiving either , seems like we went to the pond for a dip, well getting back to have some pie we notice little foot prints on the pie, it was mice prints. They manage to hike up the legs of the table and do a square dance on our pumpkin pies. Dang mice. Even tho that kitchen had hardly anything in it, it was the one that has inspired me to have a harvest kitchen. Oh mom always canned but she would do it outside in a big wash tub and a fire pit, she would have her tomatoes and even green beans (a big no no ) canning them in a hot bath. But the modern world has many advantages and still old fashion ways that can work together for the end result. To me a kitchen that has the smell of baked breads homemade soups, spices simmering , oh its a favorite part of the home. It brings family together. Now we might not have had the tiniest kitchen ever but I do know we had to have the smallest bathroom ever. I think it would make the record, an outhouse would have been a mansion. This bathroom was so small that when you sat on the toilet your knees and feet would be sticking out the doorway, you couldn't close the door, and we were small kids. It was strange to say the least. Oh our memories, aren't they fun. All take good care, and thanks for the visit Blessing |

![]() Its Mom's 81st Birthday today : ). Mom loved horses growing up , if she wasn't working and hunting she was out riding. Riding in pastures that are now cover with concrete and houses. A lot of change in just a few years. I remember riding a horse on the same pastures Mom did. Her and my Dad kissed while each riding on a horse at a road crossing. But first met on the road , Mom was putting chains on the tires. I think it was love at first sight for both. They were a handsome pair, and my friends at school would always tell how good looking they were.
Mom loved to sing and she sounded like Doris Day, remember her? One of Mom's favorite songs was "K-sa-rah-sa-rah Whatever will be will be,the futures not our's to see K-sa-rah-sa rah". Not sure the spelling on the first and last part. And then Mom and Dad would have us singing, "We ain't got a barrel of money , maybe were raggin and funny , but were travel along, singin our song, side by side". Oh remember that one !!!!!!! Mom still has her fishing fever up after the float trip last Saturday, so we might take a fishing trip soon. But all she has to do is go up to one of her ponds and throw a line in. Mom still works in our family business, she gardens, she put out over 100 tomato plants this year along with many other rows of veggies. She does the truck row type of garden. I keep telling her about the raised beds and how early you can get plants out , but when your set in your ways your set, oh well. She cans all those mater too. Makes lots of lime pickles and jellies. And a heck of a good cook. She took after my grandmother. Mom loves to mow on her brand new riding mower. A good artist but she doesn't do that any more. She writes a daily journal and loves to read the weekly paper, Coon Ridge is her favorite article in the Plainsmen , I think that's the name of that paper. Moms a prayer warrior and I think many prayers were answered because of Moms quite prayers. You'll see Mom in the morning looking out her kitchen window with a cup of coffee. She will tell me of the deer , wild turkey, birds that she feeds , a coon that comes on her porch looking for the cats food, a groundhog family eating weeds, she liked that, and a neighbors Emu eating in her garden, she didn't like that. Mom even was there years ago when the cougar walked right by us about 15 ft away. She didn't believe I seen the big cat the first time until she seen it herself. Grandmother of three and great grandmother to 4. The kids will be over with a cake to celebrate a very beautiful women that has touched the hearts of many . Her family, friends, her business clients and even those that she meets when she goes groceries shopping. Your never a stranger in Moms life. And if you go to visit she does what her Mom always did, put's out the food. I love to hear Moms stories of her youth, how hard times didn't really seem hard cuz the town they lived in everyone was pretty much in the same boat. They would hunt and fish for food, have a garden , even had a thousand chickens. Family of 7 kids in a small house, they each had their own chores to do. Mom was really an outdoors girl , the firstborn, I think gramps wanted a boy cus he would call Mom, Bill. Yep Mom didn't mind, she liked all that outdoor stuff and going along with her Dad was everything to her. Mom tells of a time when she was looking in a hole where she was hunting and was sprayed in the eyes by a skunk. She claims her good eye sight from that event. Also shared how her brother got a mean streak and was shooting bb's at her up a tree and when gramps heard about it he wrapped my uncles bb gun around a tree trunk. Mom would share stories of different neighbors and those that she worked for cleaning their houses or doing things to make a little extra money for the family. How going to the movie theater cost 10 cents and that one time when they brought their own pop corn in a bag, grandma accidently pour skunk grease over the popcorn instead of butter Mom was never afraid of any type of work, and growing up we seen Mom as a work horse , never wanting anything other then getting the bills paid and food for the family. But she and Dad sure loved to fish and when they could find an opportunity to go fishing they did. Their dream was to live on a river houseboat. Living in the city , their heart was in the country, and Mom was the home/house finder and we would get a few farm house along the way. Not until the early 70's we all moved to the sticks for good. Theres many stories of Moms life, funny ,sad, life. But let me share one of the craziest of all that Mom did in her older years. Mom was in her early 70's, ok I don't know what got into my sister and Moms head that day but they both took turns rolling in a metal barrel down Moms pond dam , I asked ,what did you do that for???? Answer---- Because. When Dad passed, Mom had the tombstone engraved with her name, so when it's her time she would be right next to Dad. I thought it was strange looking but it was what Mom wanted. The trouble with that was it had , the year 19---- , they would just have to chisel in the last digits of the year. Hello, Mom is still here and it 2007. Way to go Mom. Mom lives life simple , a really less is more type of gal. Loves nature, her home is where she loves to be the most. Mom would say when we growing up , that if your down just get you a little something for a pick-me-up, that would do it, usually it was a bowl of candy : ). Happy Birthday Mom, love you forever and thank you for everything Hope to grow up just like ya !!!!!! Blessings many linda |

Just got back tonight from our granddaughters recital, they are 5yrs and 4 yrs. This is the 4th recital for the oldest. They were so cute. They both did a great job. It is cute when those little dancers come out and do their number.
They had all ages, their so big that they use the campus here in the college town and its takes 2 evenings because of so many dancers. It worked out good that both girls had the same night, but that might change next year and we may be going both nights. The theme was "As Seen ON TV" songs from different TV shows of now and from the past. Our girls did theme song on "Gilligans Island" and the theme song on "The Lawrence Welk Show" and they both together did "Party at Mickey's House from Mickey Mouse Club House". You remember any of those tunes? The programs they handed out were made just like a TV guide. It was a long program, but all the dancers were having fun and just some beautiful dancing. Had my foot tappin on some of those numbers. Every year they have the dads come up and do a number with their daughters, it is so funny. The first year we went the dads were dress like the Village People, OH my was that funny. Picture comes from the art work http://www.leavesoftime.com/ While we were there it was storming and it just stop raining when everyone was leaving, perfect timing. We still have storms coming , not sure if there will be a T-ball game in the morning or not. I have to run first and pay for my spot at the farmers market in the morning. I won't start that until a couple of weeks , but I will have a guaranteed spot. Looks like I'll be picking peas this weekend, and dressing out the rest of the Cornish X. It will be nice to have a break from taking care of them. They are messy. And speaking of messy, my house. I need a good day just to clean up things around here. With the garden pretty much planted, I need to get some inside stuff done. Before it is full blast with picking and canning. I'll try and get some more garden pictures in my photos this weekend too. I'm going to read some blogs and sites, learn some more good stuff and then listen to the rain as I fall asleep. All have a great weekend, thanks for dropping by Blessings linda |
