My blessed friends.....

Sadly, I missed the entire Ladies Retreat on Saturday due to a yucky virus.  I was extremly ill on Saturday ~ in fact, I finally feel better today.

But I have the dearest friends in the world that God has blessed me with.  They completly nursed me the entire day.  Bringing me my sweet baby to nurse, changing his diaper peridocially, making him feel secure,  bringing me ginger ale, packing my entire baggage, driving my car home while I held a Walmart bag, and dodging into Taco Bell without wrecking in order for me to dispose whatever was left in my pathetic body.  I was so sick that I couldn't even get dressed into my clothes.  So, Yes, I puked in Taco Bell in my pj's on the floor.  I regretfully was so embarrased that I looked like I got hit by a hurricane that I refused to tell the employees that I flooded their women's bathroom floor.  So, if you happened to be in that neck of the woods on Saturday afternoon and had to tinkle, I apologize!  By the grace of God, I made it home alive ~ thanks to my loving and empathetic friends.

A Friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.  Pro 17:17

Even though I missed the Ladies Retreat, I now realized my friends are the best.......  Thank you, ladies.  I love you!!!!

On-line bible study

We will be starting an on-line bible study at Women Walking Together With Jesus.

We will be going through the book/workbook Breaking Free by Beth Moore. It will be a discussion/support group for all women who seek a desire to walk with our Lord but have a boulder(Satan)causing them to stray away from their  destination.

Awesome Study. I encourage you to join us.

Welcome, Children to our Home!

{ 07:52 , Friday, April 27, 2007 } { 0 comments } { Link }
Once again, the Holy Spirit spoke to me during my early morning devotional.  I was reading thru Proverbs this week.  Somehow, I stumbled across this little devotion in Matthew in my new Woman's Devotional Bible 2 that I bought this week.  It really made me realize how I have shown a lack of hospitality towards my boys friends/guests.

My dh and I want so much for our home to be the one that everyone wants to be at ~ in other words, a safe haven for all of our children's friends.  BUT I have to admit I have had a hard time lately....  Opening my home to toy-oriented hands and feet isn't appealing to me ~ More clean up!  It's not the tons of kids that bother me...  It's the afterwards clean up that I might possibly have to do.

Jesus said " Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such these. "  Matt 19:14

Wow~ Have I really allowed children to come to our house, willingly?  Maybe sometimes if it is convenient for me.  But have I really showed hospitality toward them that Jesus did?

Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 1Peter 4:9

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.  Heb 13:2

I now realize if I want my house to be the "cool, fun house"  I must show more hospitality towards our guests.  Regardless of their age.   We have been blessed with a wonderful house on one acre ~ I need to show my appreciation by allowing my children to fellowship with others.  Regardless of what my house might look like afterwards ~ Can you only imgaine?  I have 5 boys of my own!  LOL!

So, bring all you kids over this weekend so we can use our house for God's glory.  BTW, I will be at the Ladies Retreat but my dh will be home with all the boys.  hee, hee!  He would disown me!

Have a blessed weekend!

Jill ~ happy momma to almost 5 perfect boys

Shining Stars.....

Oh!  How I want my family and I to be shining stars in this world!  I stumbled across this verse last night when I was at my Ladies bible study.  The Holy Spirit was defintely working within me because it had nothing to do with our lesson.

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life-in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.  Phil 2:14-16

Today I am printing out this verse and posting it on our fridge.  We are going to decorate our house with stars everywhere to remind us of this promising verse.

Oh, you can learn about stars, too.  For little ones you can sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.  I just love to incorporate God with our studies. star coloring page

Have a wonderful day.  Be a shining star!

Mother's Day Ideas

This weekend is our Ladies Retreat.  Of course, I will be bringing my youngest blessing.  He is 3 months old today!     He is growing like a weed.  He is such a wonderful baby.  He sleeps from 9:30 until 6:oo.  In fact, all my boys have slept all night from 8 weeks on.  Babywise

I had this great thought ~ The boys could work on Mother Day projects with Daddy this weekend while I am gone.  Yeah, right!  LOL!  Mother's Day Ideas

School is going well today!  Remember ~ tell someone that you prayed for them today.

Riches Can't Bribe Death

{ 09:42 , Tuesday, April 24, 2007 } { 1 comments } { Link }
Psalms  49:1-9

Listen to this, all you people!
    Pay attention, everyone in the world!
High and low,
    rich and poor-listen!
For my words are wise,
    and my thoughts are filled with insight.
I listen carefully to many proverbs
    and solve riddles with inspiration from a harp.

There is no need to fear when times of trouble come,
    when enemies are surrounding me.
They trust in their wealth
    and boast of great riches.
Yet they cannot redeem themselves from death
    by paying a ransom to God.
Redemption does not come so eadily,
    for no one can ever pay enough
to live forever
    and never see the grave.

These verses touched my heart the other morning when I was doing my devotion.  Some many times I wonder if my dh and I are making the right decisions in life.  Society and the bible conflict with what is important.  Is having a brand new suburban, a nicer house, designer clothes, and going on family vacations to Disney World going to make our life, as well as, the boys richer?
I have to admit sometimes I do daydream about what my life would be like if I only had 2 kids and I worked full-time like I once did.  I would only have stuff!  All the money in the world can't bribe God ~ So don't place your life in riches but in God himself.  I am now so much closer to God and so are my dear blessings.  May you keep up on your daily walk with the Lord and not with the Jones's.

Jill

Praying with a complete stranger

{ 04:34 , Monday, April 23, 2007 } { 1 comments } { Link }
Have you ever wanted to snap your fingers and vanish ~ or should I say snap my fingers and have your screaming two year old vanish until he finishes his temper tantrum?  LOL!

We were on our way to a homeschool picnic at the park and  I had to stop into Mardels (Christain Bookstore) to pick up Doobies handwriting that I purchased Sat and left there by mistake.  Zeke E boy wanted to watch Thomas (his favorite at this time) on the video at the store.  So, of course, with the 2 older ones he was able to watch it for a few minutes while I made my purchase.  When it was time to go, he went absoultely NUTS ~ screaming, kicking, and trying to get out of the cart.  The entire store was looking at me with annoying faces.  I can only imagine what they were thinking.  I was truly embarrased.  Anyways, this sweet lady in front of me said " If it makes you feel any better, my oldest son who is a 39 year old doctor that now has 5 kids acted the same way."  She was so encourageing to me.  She kindly asked me if she could pray over Zeke E Boy.  The clerk, the kind woman and my boys all prayed for Zeke E Boy.  Strangers praying together!  It was so touching to me.  And the lesson the boys and I learned today.  The importance for praying for others and making it known.  I am ashamed to say that I have prayed for so many people before but didn't tell them for the fear of offending them.  May God forgive me.  I encourage you to let a friend, stranger or even your husband know that you prayed for them today.  It truly makes a difference on the receiving end.  I am so blessed that this kind woman wasn't afraid of showing her faith in our God.

Birds, Birds, Birds and More Birds!

{ 08:37 , Sunday, April 22, 2007 } { 2 comments } { Link }
Enjoy the wonderful creation of Birds.  Make simple bird feeders and watch all the birdies come and eat.  Record what birds come to your feeders, learn about the different types of birds, and don't forget to put them in your science/nature notebook.Simple Bird Feeders

So, I just prepared your science lessons for the next few weeks.  Oh how simple homeschooling can be!  Enjoy!!!

Have a blessed Sunday!

Organization ~ what's that??

{ 09:25 , Saturday, April 21, 2007 } { 1 comments } { Link }
Yes ~ I love to be organized!  I thrive on it!  In fact, I believe that God has blessed me with organization skills because I have a son who is ADD who MUST have structure, daily assignments and schedules.  My schedule revolves around my planned schedule for him.  If I didn't have some sort of a daily routine,  I would be doing my son injustice.  For those of you who suffer or live with a family member who is ADD/ADHD are well aware of the benefits of sticking to a daily routine.  Also, being a homeschool mommy of 5 almost perfect boys requires a lot of my time while striving to maintain a some what clean house.

I must admit I do suffer from sin when my schedule gets a little "OFF!"  I am working on it!  Things like dirty diapers, paint on the floor, toilet overflowing from your 2 year old stuffing the entire box of klennex  down the comode are always interfering with my "planned daily schedule."  I must learn or accept that all things happened according to God's plan.

On one of my Yahoo groups someone suggested this fun program to get your children organized.  I havin't implemented it yet.  But plan to use it for the FREE 30 day trial period.  Character Planner

Enjoy your weekend with all your blessings God has put in your path.

The coolest math!!!

As most of you know, we are studying the Middle Ages ~ all the fun Knight stuff, etc.  Anyways, I found a fun, interesting Math.   Check it out!

Knight Math

I would probably use it to supplement with their regular math program.  Has anyone used this math program before?  I would love to hear your comments.

Research, Research, Research!

{ 08:48 , Wednesday, April 18, 2007 } { 0 comments } { Link }
After rereading Language Arts the Easy Way by Cindy Rushton, I decided that the boys were ready to start doing their own research and write about it.  I do have the boys write everyday but I now understand the importance of having them write for a reason.   Yesterday I asked them what they wanted to learn about today.  Bruiser (10, 4th grade) wanted to learn about warfare guns.  Doodle Bug (8 1/2, 3rd) chose WWI.  They both read about their particular interest in the Kingfisher Enclyclopedia and wrote an impressive paragraph.  I was so excited!!!  My academic goal for my boys is to teach them to love to learn.  I know that I can't teach them everything in this world but I can teach them to how to find out information.  Today they will be expand on their subjects by reading and accessing The Usbourne Internet-linked Enclyclopedia of World History.  They are to make a notebook page each day on their subject for one week.  Can't wait to see if they want to dig deeper into their subject or chose a new topic next week.  Keep in mind this assignment isn't in place of our daily history study on the Middle Ages.  We are studying Islam and Muhammed.

Have a blessed day and remember to shine your light!!

Tuesday! My baby is 6!

{ 04:36 , Tuesday, April 17, 2007 } { 2 comments } { Link }
Today Doobie's turns 6.  Hard to believe that he is almost finished Kindergarten.  He has requested pancakes, bacon, sausage, and eggs for dinner tonight.  Our family tradition is that the boys get to eat birthday cake for breakfast.  For some reason, Doobies requested "LEMON!"  I guess he knew that no one would like it but him.  So, he will enjoy his cake ,to say the least, by himself.

It's a gloomy day here in the Dallas area.  We are suppose to have some severe weather tonight again.  I decided to study weather for the next couple of weeks.  We started a lapbook.  Hands of a child Also, their copywork consists of weather material.

My dh will be home late tonight but the birthday boys has requested that we watch Happy Feet as a family.  Fun, Fun, Fun!  I love movie night especially when it is rainy.   Snuggling with dh, boys, and my favorite blankie always makes a perfect night.  Well, actually, that would be when our darling two year old falls asleep.  LOL!!
