Was wondering if anybody has a pattern for a baby burp pad that goes over the shoulder? When my children were small I used to use a diaper but I see the younger folks use a burp pad. I would like to make some for the craft fair.. If someone could share a pattern or a link I would be grateful.. Thanks..

I can give you a rough Idea of how I made mine - I took a diaper and then cut a small rounded area out on one side halfway so that it would fit on the shoulder and the rounded section would fit ont he neck - to give better coverage. Then I take cute flannel and cut slightly larger than the diaper and basically make a "slipcase" for the diaper to hide in and then once done - sew the diaper to the wrong side of one of the sides and run some stiches up the middle to keep it from puckering when washed. Made very cute and absorbant burp clothes! Incorporates the old stanby with the cute freshness of "new" -hope this makes sense! If not e-mail me and I can dig out one, take a picture and e-mail it to you. I also make nursing shawls. Take a large enough piece that would cover a mother with a baby underneath - cut a small circular area out for the neck and place a neck "strap" Large enough and then make the cover fan out into a large at the bottom - like a large fan type shape (although not huge) - make double thickness of cute cloth or flannel (for winter) when I nursed - people that didn't know (men) often thought the baby was snuggling under a blanket - one time I even had an old co-worker headed over to peak under the blanket at the new baby -when I realized - I told him I was nursing - he didn't know - it's very nice for women who don't want to leave church -but want to be discreet. I was often told I should make more and sell them. I just made them for friends. I didn't really have time to make and sell them. :0)
Yes, I use to make them from a pattern my grandmother gave me. I will have to look around here so I can share it with you. Enjoy your week dear sister! Mrs. Joseph Wood
