Where there is no vision.......

Where there is no vision, the people perish, Proverbs 29:18a.  This verse and topic were posted over at Deanna's.  This is the very reason why I have been missing Deanna's posts, as of late.  She is full of knowledge and wisdom, especially in this area.

We went Monday to see the house and land.  The house is tiny!!  However, the land is beautiful.  Dh, who is the laid back don't rock the boat type, really loved it.  He even said he would drive the 50 minutes to work, to go ahead and do it now.  I was not expecting that reaction.  Usually he is, oh this is nice and that's it.  I am not the one who takes action on these matters.  I would love to, mind you, but in keeping with submission.  I just do the leg work and then let him do all of the major details.  So far he has not jumped on anything, but this place may change all of that.  He has been doing his research and getting his figures together.  I wont get excited yet.

As for the house,  the land was much larger than I had originally thought.  It is also lined by woods that I am hoping the kids could play in (not during deer seasonLOL).  It's in a very good area.  The pond was also a lot larger than we had originally thought.  There would be plenty of land for our current animals and a lot more.  We picked out our spot for feeding out our future two pigs.  We would have room for a beef cow and a couple of meat lambs.  We could stock the pond with some bass for fishing.  There would be plenty of room for the size garden we are wanting.  It's perfect!!  The house is still tiny!!  It's very basic and rustic.  However, the kitchen, the heart of our home, was a good size.  That was encouraging.  It didn't have my pantry but I could figure something out.  The living room was tiny, the bedroom was a descent size, and the bathroom was tiny.  I think we could come off the back door with a simple shed type add on.  We could get two more bedrooms out of an add on.  However, we would do this a little at a time, as we had the money.  We would not want to go into debt for the add on.  I have a lot of large furniture that would no longer have a home.  The stuff that I would keep that did not have a home would go in the 412 sq. ft. building out back.  The house is very rustic and I would want to keep it that way.  Simplicity is best.  There are a few issues that we are praying hard over.  We want to be solely in God's will.  His will not ours!!  If you think about it please say a small prayer.

This is our vision.  To live a God honoring, self reliant life. We don't want frills.  I have had them and they don't bring happiness.   That is why I really think we could make this work.  I can just see us sitting on that front porch in the evenings watching our children play and our horses run.  This is the essence of homesteading, hence Homestead Blogger.

Blessings,

Trixi

It all sounds so good.

The property looks wonderful. I'll be praying for you in your decision making process.
Maybe this year will be the year we will be able (if it's God's will) to find our next homestead property. Hopefully closer to my sister. We'll see what God sends our way. You never know.
Blessings to you and yours during this time of change,
Leigh-Ann

Oh wow, that is SOOOOO great!!! I would LOVE to find a place like that. I have my eyes peeled, I want something where I can pay off and sell what we have and then have a more secluded area and a more well laid out home. This looks SOO wonderful, I am very happy for you! Praying it will work out JUST right! :D

((( TRIXI)))))))

I love love love it!!!!!!! I am with your husband - not that it counts mind you! :)) But oh I love the land, there is much more than the other you posted about.. more room for critters and your horses and I love the house.......it's so cozy looking! I just loved it!!! I am too excited!! This is wonderful!

Your husband sounds like mine...... usually things don't really get him tickled....... but every once in a while something will.... that is what happened when we found our house! We just *knew* this was the place to buy! Even before we went into the house!

How many sq feet does the house have? I would think with your small family you would be ok? That is unless you hope to adopt and then you will be required to have more space for more kids.

I would love to see pics of the house inside...... and yes, you will be suprised how little you can live with! We had a big huge house with all the bells and whistles before and I still would not trade it for my country farm....... the peace of the land is amazing........

Oh I am so thrilled for you!!

PLEASE keep us posted!

I really like it... I hope and pray that you'll be able to purchase this house. It may be small but if your husband is handy with a hammer then it may not be so bad. One thing we've done is gather "scrap" lumber from new neighborhoods around us. If you ask the foreman, he may let you take the pieces with nails in them. My husband hauled off so much lumber that we've been able to build an 8'x8' shed, fix the side of our home and build a covered porch that's 8' deep x 20' long - all for the cost of screws (the porch roof was old tin my in-laws had they didn't want). Y'all might try this and it could save you some money. The boards we gathered were 4"x6". Most of them were over 8' long. We simply removed the nails (which we saved and re-straightened) and put the boards under tarps, etc. We even got plywood, a door and they even had bricks they weren't going to use...all for the sake of asking and receiving.
Good luck and God's blessings,
Meredith

I love it! Simple is perfect. Isn't it fun to just imagine your life in a new place? We want to build a small, simple house someday on a large piece of land. Sometimes it's hard to be patient : )

Good luck on the house!

The cabin is small, but so cute!! If your husband can build onto it, then that would be wonderful. The land is just gorgeous!! It sounds perfect.

Country Blessings,
Jamie

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
