A Healthy New Me Update and Ramblings....

Well, our getting healthy in 2008 is going off with a blast. We have stopped the fast and are now eating a reduced whole foods diet. I have not had refined sugar, flour, or a diet Pepsi in almost 2 weeks. DH has not had his coffee in almost 2 weeks either. I feel great. I have more energy and I just feel better. Dh has replaced his coffee with the Bulk Herb Stores Rise and Shine Tea. He is really enjoying it. I am also going to order him their Stress Buster Tea. Believe it or not, he has really gotten into this tea thing.LOL One big difference I have noticed since cutting our all processed and refined foods is that I don't snack as much. I feel full during the day and then don't tend to graze. I am amazed at how deprived my kids feel. I did not realize that we were eating so much junk until we go into the grocery store and they want things that are so obviously not on our eating regimine. It's very eye opening, what a disservice we have done to them. I have one daughter who takes after my DH side of the family and is naturally thin but my oldest takes after my side. She is thin now but I see the potential of being overweight when she is older. We have to instill a better way of life now so that my children do not carry on this burden.
On the agenda for today is cleaning. I need to finish the laundry and just do an overall cleaning for the weekend. We have school to do, also. We will have a sort of taco salad tonight. Our neighbors (the dairy farm) brought over a gallon of fresh milk and some of their grain fed beef, yesterday. I will be using it in the taco salad. Yum..... DH and children will be hunting Saturday all day and then again on Monday. We need another deer, as we are going through the other 3 quickly. I like not having to buy meat.
DH will be off on Monday and in between hunting we are going to look at another house. It will make you laugh but this is the description. It is a 1 bedroom cabin on 10 acres with a pond and nice storage building (412 sq. fts). The cabin is 812 sq. ft. I do know how insane that sounds. However, it is 60 miles from home and about 35 miles from where Dh is hoping to get his next promotion. We wont do anything until we know about the promotion. We live about 85 miles from our family (home) now. The cabin is only 4 years old and has been built well with nice appliances. The piece of land is just beautiful. It already has the fencing for our animals and a building for hay and tack. The pond is another great plus. As for the cabin, I know that we can not house a family of 5 in a 1 bedroom for long but keep in mind my husband is a carpentar even if its not by trade. We will just come off the back with atleast 2 more bedrooms. After we build on and can get some of our stuff out of the storage building we could turn it into our barn. It will probably stay a 1 bath for quite a while but we can do that. I don't know if this is it, but we have decided that if we are going to keep the horses we need atleast 5-10 acres. So we are basically looking more at the piece of land than at the home. Dh can fix the home.LOL
Here is a pic....

Have a great day!!
Blessings to all,
Trixi

It is beautiful! I pray that God's will be done concerning your needs so all will be as He wants it for your blessings to pour down up on you all like rain. Father you get the glory in this as they decide to do and receive all that your have and give to them. In Jesus' Holy Name!

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. I know nothing about horses so I will take all the help I can get. :)
This place looks nice. We have 7 children, but only 5 currently living with us and we are all in 2 rooms with a small bathroom which has just a tiny shower, no tub. This is also temporary until we can build our home. So, I'm sure you can do it with your family. The main challenge we face daily is storage. Anything is workable with a little creativity, ingenuity, and a positive attitude. :)
Hope you find a place soon.
~Peace,
Alie

I think your one-room cabin sounds wonderful. We currently live in less than 800 square feet with a family of 4 (although they are younger). It's basically a one bedroom and one bath and it works OK (for now). However, we know that one day we'll move on and have a larger home on a larger piece of land. But, we make do with what we have and enjoy knowing that we can sleep at night with little debt hanging over our heads. If it's in your budget and you have the room to add on then by all means live large and be adventurous!! I hope it works out for y'all!

You can do that! I have no doubt that you are WAY more organized than I am, cause we are a family of 9 (when DH is home) but we currently live in 982sq ft with only 1 bath.
Some days it is really tight, but then there are others where it doesn't seem that small.
Praying God's will for you and your family.
Blessings,
Debi
LOVE it!!!!

I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would do it in a heart beat... as long as it was a God thing!!! Anyway, think of how small a house our homesteading ancestors lived in.... that cabin is a castle compared to a soddy or one room cabin! Where (what state) are at??
Heather
I would do it.......

Trixi ~~
I can not believe I missed this post!!!
IN any case, I did post a comment to your post today that showed pics of the cabin..... I absolutely love it!! You can do this! Adding on an addition to the back with a couple more bedrooms would not be a big deal at all! The land is lovely too! Wouldn't it be fun to stock that pond with fish???!
Too excited for you!

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
