in A Healthier Us in 2008 - Post Comment

Well, I should not even be dwelling on this right now, as we are going to literally pig out on Tuesday and Wednesday of this coming week.  However, starting Jan. 1 our family is doing away with refined sugar for atleast 2 months.  DH did a study with our family on this topic about a month ago about gluttony and our bodies being a temple.  Anyway, we decided then that at the beginning of the new year we wanted to do away with sugar.  Which for our family is a big deal.  My girls cook sweets constantly and if they are not I do.  We drink sweet tea and love pancakes and syrup.  We are doing away with all of this.  I have been looking at this site on the Master Cleanse and think that this is the way I am going to start off my no sugar regime.  I would love to do this fast for 40 days but will shoot for the initial 14.  We are not only doing this for weight loss but for overall health.  DH could probably stand to lose about 15-20 lbs. but I need to lose about 50-60 lbs.  When we married I weighed 126 now it is considerably more but it's not just the weight.  It's being a pitiful example to these children we have charge of and our overall health.  I went to the doctor last year and my cholesterol was through the roof.  Ofcourse, I have done little to correct that.  I am going to put a ticker in my side bar tracking our progress.  I need to invest in a good scale, as well.  Anyway, if any of you have done the Master Cleanse I would love to know your results on better health.

As for my thank you, my secret sister sent me the sweetest package.  I would love to show a picture but I didn't get one before the children got into it all.LOL  She sent me a mug filled with hot chocolate, a chocolate chip cookie in a cute little tin and some hershey's kisses.  It was so cute and thoughtful.  Thank you!!!

On to the tidbits, we visited a church this morning.  Ofcourse, it was not what we are use to but I am coming to the assumption that God put us here for a reason and we need to be open to that reason.  It was a small church and they had a very sweet Christmas service.  One thing that DH has noticed in these churches we have been visiting is that there are not a lot of people between the ages of say 25-45, our age group.  They are either very young or very old.  We have come to what we think may be a conclusion on this.  Could it be that people do not live the Christian life at home?  If our children are not eating and breathing a life for Jesus Christ why would they then pick it up when they are out of our house.  Does that make sense?  It seems that people are making their children go to church and then once they are of age they choose not to go any longer.  There has to be a reason for this.  Anyway, it was a sweet service and we enjoyed it.  We will be going back home next Sunday to our old church and then keep on with the search there after.

Blessings,

Trixi

I was made to go to church for most of my teenage life until I was made to leave home after my baby was born. They are devout Christians very strict in their church ways. You see I went with my parents but was made to go. The key was I didn't understand that there is a diffence in hearing of God and about Him and Knowing Him personally. When I did come to know Him I was 45 and in a sucidial state. That is when I knew Him through His spirit. My family was always at church everytime the doors were opened and had house meetings in between. You see as children we are made to think like them not learn to think and still be guided into right and wrong choices.
I can now see I was a follwer and trained to obey.
I became so closed minded to anything to do with God until that moment of truth was upon me.
Children will pick up many things in the world when they get out of the house because we are creatures of discovery. WE then will decide to do it your way or another according to the gifts and callings placed into that individuals life. I know a man who's dad is a minister and He told of always trying to fit in with others so he would do the worst things just to show that he was not holyer than them. It led him into much despair and addictions which led him from all the teaching he heard through the years. He right now knows the word, is a believer but isn't willing to serve.I believe that we all at one time have to take the blinders off and look at what God is saying for us~ to us and about us to allow us to see us the way He does. Just hopefully we learn alot along the way as we unfold into the unique creatures we are born to be. With no thing missing and nothing broken.
Lead me not into temptations and delieverd me from evil is my prayer.
Blessings and God's best to you, rilda

I know that if this is a core desire that you will succeed because God puts those desires there.
Father led them from temptations and deliever them from all forms of evil. Give them your Faith and strength to bring them through to victory. With you it is always possible. I give you praise for doing what is needed for this family to make them rich in the things of you and add NO sorrow. In Jesus' Holy Name! lovingly, rilda

I was recently talkng with another couple in my church about how that age group of 20-50 seems very low in my church. We have a huge youth group and a lot of older people, but where is everyone our age?

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
