Some things we are praying about here on the homestead.....

First, would be the farmhouse we are looking at.  I want to say that we have not even started any process on it because we are still praying about it.  We want to be totally in God's will because His burden is light.  We don't have trials when we are in His will.  Anyway, there are a couple of things about the location of the house.  It is about 45 mins. from any college (even community).  So that will mean if any of our children go to college they would have to commute or move (gasp).  When we lived in Starkville we were 10 mins. from a major university.  The other thing is that in order for Dh to get a promotion he must go to a different Armory.  Well, he could without a doubt get a promotion in Meridian which is an hour away.  We don't want to do that commute again.lol  However, he could apply for a promotion at about 4 Armories within 20 mins. of the house.  He would not be as much of a shoe in, as in Meridian.  The pros to the house are we love it and the land it sits on.  It is about 30 mins. closer to home for us.  We would have an easier trip going home for church.  We like the area that it is in and it is closer to some of the homeschooling friends we have gotten to know.

The other issue we are praying about is..... We are considering adoption of older children in the foster care system.   I have a lady sending me out all of the info. tomorrow.  We have been praying about this for a while.  We wanted to wait until our children were a little older to even think about it (safety reasons).  I have thought for a while, that there are all these children in the "system", who need good homes and how we could take some and raise them for the glory of God.  DH wasn't there yet but he has really come around to the idea.  Then my oldest DD went on a site that talked about this very thing and came to her father and I and asked if we would consider it.  She calls it a life changing event.  I have to keep reminding the children we are not talking about a puppy.  We are talking about forever members of our family.  She had no idea that this had been on my heart, as Dh and I had still been talking about having more of our own children.  It's just funny the way God works.  Still there are so many issues and I am still not totally convinced that this is for us, but we are praying.  DH wants younger children like say 5 and under but I don't know how feasible that is.  He would like chidren that would still be young enough to train into our way of doing things.   However, my 10, 13, and 16 yr. olds are still in training.LOL  I would want to respect his wishes on this.  Anyway, if you think of us please pray.  It means we would have to do a homestudy and so forth.  We live very simply and I don't know how that would translate to goverment departments.

Blessings,

Trixi

Oh trixi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited when I read your post about praying about adoption!!!!!!!!!!!

I will keep this in my heart and prayers....... that the Lord will show you clearly of HIS ways...... there are so many children needing homes..........

Oh I am so excited for you and yes, there are many things to consider -- safety being one of them..... many of the children in foster care have been abused....... in many ways..... there can be healing, but it does take lots of time, help and love!

Adopting under the age of your youngest is very wise!

Oh I can't wait to see how the Lord works this all out for you!!!

Blessings~

Father your will be done in all areas of this precious families life..You know their hearts as they are seeking your will in these areas mentioned. No one knows them like you or even close. If it is your will Father for them to receive what is asked and prayed about I speak it done. You always have our best interest on your mind and it brings you great pleasure to see us using Faith to bring it all about. I love and bless you Father for all you are doing to bring them down the path of righteousness for right standing with you .I will my will to be yours. In Jesus' Holy Name!!

Trixi,
Of course I'll be thinking of you and praying for you and yours. I'll be praying that you'll know God's answer when you see it. I know how hard it is to wait and know what it is He wants you to see.
Blessings,
Leigh-Ann

Sounds like you have a lot of very exciting things to be praying about there Trixie.

May I ask though ~ you made a comment at the beginning of your post that you don't have trials when you are in God's will. Is that your experience so far, or is that what you believe? I wonder, because I personally have experienced great trial, within the will of God. For that reason, your comment troubled me. I see through your posts, your deep desire to be and do what God wills for you. Sometimes though, God takes us through a valley to get to the mountain, instead of going around the mountain.

I think more what I am meaning is with God all things are possible. Also, I know that there have been times that we have had trials that if we had been seeking the Lord and His will first we would not have had. Does that make sense? I do think God brings you through things in order to make you more faithful and reliant on Him. Like when my husband went to Iraq but I also think we can be out of the will of God and cause our own trials.

There is a great lady called amy ( you can link to her via my blog under Over the Fence) she is a foster/adoption momma and has wonderful tips about the process. I am sure she will help you out with anything you might have for in general. I applaud you for even considering and first and formost seeking the Lord in it. We are in a similar situation even though I cannot go into detail about it now. That would be so neat if that farm house is ment to be!

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
