What exactly constitutes news worthiness.......

Our morning routine is that Dh gets up about 5:00-5:30 and does his daily Bible reading. He then gets me up at 6:15 to fix his breakfast and get his lunch ready for the day. Then we sit down together and watch the LOCAL news and pretty much see what the weather is going to be like for the day. Well, this morning after a report about a car accident that ended in a teenage boy tragically losing his life, they go onto the breaking story of the day. That Jamie Lynn Spears, 16, is now pregnant with her 19 year old boyfriends baby. How is that newsworthy, especially locally to Jackson, Ms? How is that in any way going to affect my day or my life for that matter? It just appauls me. I have no idea who Jamie Lynn Spears is other than the little I don't even care to know about Brittany Spears. I praise God that my children do not watch Nickolodeon and that this girl is not a role model for them. If your children are watching these shows, I would encourage you to reevaluate. It is a sad thing that this family has all that money can buy and are so incredibly disfunctional. It just goes to show that money can buy nothing, especially peace. Following the Lord and His plan is the only path to Peace. I am so thankful that God loved me enough to show me this a long time ago.
Blessings,
Trixi
Thank you

oh my I was just thinking the same thing in regards to this news, and almost posted about it , (as a former teen mom myself), to hear the ignorance in her shock and disbelief that she was pregnant, I wanted to just shake her and say ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!! You know what you did to get yourself in that mess. I am glad she is choosing life over death when it comes to the child. I cant help but wonder when are we people going to stop allowing these worldly people to dictate who is a idol/hero? Why have we allowed other people to entertain us?. I am so glad we dont have cable, or tv stations that really come in through our bunny ears!

Thanks for posting on this particular subject! I often wonder how the "news people" decide what is news and what isn't. Things like that end up on the news up here all the time. It's outrageous. Another thing they do up here is let us all know how things that happen anywhere else in the country will impact the Memphis area!
The biggest "for instance" I can think of is the Minneapolis bridge collapse. They spent a few minutes talking about the tragedy and then spent 3 times as long trying to convince everyone that it had a huge impact on their city because "we have a bridge across the river too". Now, we usually just catch the weather on the news and that's it. Although, we do that less often since we purchased a weather radio. It broadcasts weather warnings and the local weather when you turn it on.
Sometimes I ask myself "How bad do things have to get before changes will be made?"
Thanks for venting about something I vent about often. Sorry for the long post. Maybe I should have posted about this very subject over at mine...
Blessings,
Leigh-Ann

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
