Some disturbing news.....

We got some disturbing news yesterday. DH took the day off yesterday for he and I to finish up the last of the Christmas shopping. While in Lifeway, Dh got a call from his right hand guy at the Armory. He had received an email saying that their unit is on the list for possible deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan in the summer of 2009. They are now trying to give them 18 months notice before a deployment. I will say that as of right now, we are not going to get nervous or upset. There are so many variables in this, including a presidential election next year that could change everything. However, this is, in the back of our minds.
So instead of expanding the animals on the homestead we are going to be downsizing. We hope to do alot of family activities like camping and so forth this next year. So we don't need to have more animals to tend. We are even looking at possibly getting rid of our horses. I hate to even say it!!!
It's funny I was looking at houses last week to buy and this week I am thinking we will probably be heading back home in a year and a half. Only God knows our plans.
Blessings,
Trixi

God does prepare us. As you said lots of things play into that happening. It is a God thing to plan ahead and prepare so you can cope with what to do as needed. What ever comes with Him we can handle it for sure. You know it seems the whole world is changing in many ways so we must look up and trust. Who knows what great and marvelous things that can happen to bring God's presence onto the earth in a way as never told, written, heard or known before.
Sending God's all your way this season of giving and love. *U* Rilda

I hate those types of calls, When we were vacationing in CA my husband got word of their possible deployment, as time got closer to this nothing came about with it. True its good to prepare for the possibilities, we tend to call it "rumor control" because unless the paper work has been filed and the orders are ago, you never know. I hope you dont have to get rid of the horses.
Just stopped by...

Good morning Trixi,
I was just running by to see how you'd been before my day gets insane...I'm sorry you're going to be changing plans for your homestead because you'll have thoughts of deployment in the back of your mind. If there's anything I can do besides offer prayers and support let me know.
Blessings, Leigh-Ann

Hi Trixi, thank you for welcoming me to the blogging community. I see we have something in common. My husband is military also and we have gone through several deployments already (he actually just got home from Iraq the end of Oct.) I look forward to getting to know you better. Tricia

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
