Church

I wanted to take a few minutes to write a little about the "church" we attend. Well, let me start by saying that DH and I decided to start attending church when DD1 was about 2 yrs. old. This was 13 years ago. We began going to a great fire and brimstone, pulpit beating church. As a result of this, we both became saved and turned our lives 360* toward Jesus Christ. I am very thankful for this style of preaching. However, after some years, some circumstances happened in the church and we found ourselves looking for something different. One thing is we were changing, as far as how we wanted our family to live.(Homeschooling and etc.) We spent the next few years searching for a church. We went to one for a while that had a lot of homeschoolers but lacked in studying the Word. By this time, we were in need of solid food. Hebrew 5:12-14
I began going to a Ladies Bible Study of other homeschool moms. It was a huge revelation in my life. These women not only studied, they memorized, meditated, read, and prayed daily. I had not really been around a group of people who actually did what God's Word calls us to do. I went to this study for about 2 years before my DH was activated to go to Iraq. When DH went to Iraq this body of believers really came out full force for my family. Most of them did not know DH from Adam but they helped in any way I needed and they prayed for him daily. I began going to the fellowship while DH was gone. When he returned we began going as a family. It has been the best decision ever for our family. My husband, I and the kids have grown in the knowledge of Jesus Christ by leaps and bounds, ever since. My husband meets weekly or bi weekly with a man in the church for study and accountability. I too, meet with an older lady. It's not because of any "preaching" that we have changed it has been the accountability to be a Berean and search the Scriptures for ourselves daily.Acts 17:10-15
As for our church fellowship, we do not have a nice building or any of the other bells and whistles. However, we do have the Word of God being read, studied and followed. We don't have a head preacher. We have a group of elders and between the elders and the other men, our services are led. We have 2 Sunday School classes for the kids. They are divided between those who are reading the Word and those who aren't. We take the Lord's supper every Sunday Morning. We sing hymns and the occasionally praise song. We sing acapella. Not because we are against musical instruments but because their is no room for them. The accountability in this group is high and it is wonderful. God has done profound things in my family and in many others. We are very blessed to have found this kind of New Testament fellowship.
Blessings,
Trixi

This sounds like a wonderful church.Except for the Lord's supper weekly, sounds like our old church in FL. Our Pastor there started that Church 28 years ago and is still there and still so on Fire for the Lord.
We sadly haven't been in Church, since Christmas due to illness.
Our little church has a very small congregation. There are 11 counting Pastor. A younger man fresh from Bible college, but reminds me so of our old Pastor.
I am praying that this weekend we will be there again.
Blessings,
Debi

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
