I wanted to take a moment to talk about our time of church yesterday.  First of all let me begin by explaining our church situation.  We are so blessed to have found a group of like minded believers who gather together to worship on Sunday mornings.  We describe it as a home church.  We have no pastor, just elders.  Our children do go to a time of Sunday school while we as believers are taking the Lord's table.  Then the children come back in for a share time.  This is where anyone in the church can share what they have seen in the Word the previous week and sing hymns.  The last part of church the children go outside to play under supervision and the youth age children and adults do a study.  Right now we are going through Genesis.  It has been so good.  We don't have any traditional extra curricular activities.  It is a very family oriented group.  We only have one service a week.  It has been so different from what we have been used to in the past.  I have to say it is refreshing.  It is completely Word based.  We are there to be in the Word.  We came from a traditional church and taught Sunday School, directed VBS, and Awana.  We are so thankful for this new setup.

The thing that came out yesterday that was so convicting for me, is on parenting.  The first verse I would like to share is Psalm 51:5...

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.

This verse makes it obvious that our children are born in sin and that they need a saviour.  Then the story of Timothy came up, how he was raised by 2 Godly women.   2Timothy 1:5

For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.

This leads me to 2Timothy 3:15

and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings (scriptures) which are able to give you wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

I am sharing all of this to point out what an awesome responsibility we have as parents.  I myself get caught up in how sweet they are and how much I just love them and want to squeeeeeze them.  I tend to forget that they are sinners bound for hell and God has placed them in my husband and I's hands.  That is such a sobering thought.  This last verse also shows how important the scriptures are for bringing about faith in Jesus Christ.  I have always known the scriptures are important but its more than that.   The Word can bring faith and salvation to my children.  I want my children to be faithful servants and I am their example of this.  This is such a HHHUUUGGGEEE responsibility.  I just pray that I am worthy.

Hebrew 11:6

and without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

I hope this has shown someone something new!!!

Have a great evening and week!!!!:)

We may need to visit your church :o) We are still far more traditional than I'd like...traditional in the sense of Wednesday night services are a group play tiem for the children, there are a miultitude of classes to select from on any given Sunday...and we are a small church of barely 125! **sigh**

I would love for yall to visit. We have trully enjoyed it. Its the first place that we have found true accountability of staying in the Word. If you dont do your study during the week then you will be lost. I could go on and on but wont.

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
