Too much time, or time well spent? This is the question.....

I have been reading from Carrie and Catherine about time spent here and on the internet in general.... I had to really weigh this issue a few weeks ago. It is sooo easy to get carried away with this. I have now decided that I probably was spending too much time online. I don't have DSL but dial up. Therefore, anything I do on here takes 10X longer. We live so far out that DSL is not even an option. Putting all things into there proper perspective, I now get up with DH at 4:45 or 5:00. I fix his breakfast and lunch and get him out the door. Then I get on the computer for about an hour. I go do my personal Bible reading and then I get my DC up. I don't want the computer to interfere with my time spent with them. I am getting them up and going about 7:30 ish. This is working right now. I do miss out on the posts during the day and I do try to sneak some time during the day to check but my main time on here is about 5:30-6:30 in the morning. As mothers, I think the hardest thing for us is to put all things in there proper order. I also think that this order is different for everybody.
Blessings,
Trixi

I'm like you. I get up early enough to include this if I can. But as soon as the kids awake it's their time. This blogging I just discovered so it is very theraputic. I just try to keep it under control. God first, family, church, and if we have time, us lol.
God Bless.

I like what you've said here, Trixi. You and I are the same in our schedules, pretty much. For a LONG time, my menopausal insomnia was causing me to be up all night and then sleep the majority of the day. It worked for us and as long as I got everything done that I needed to get done, I figured "What the heck?!".
But now, all of a sudden and out of the clear blue, my schedule and body clock changed... just like that! *snap* I'm now going to bed at 7pm and getting up about 4am. Go figure! ::shrug:: I just go with the flow and forget it.
I get up and pack my husband's lunch and then I go online for an hour or two. By that time it's 7:30am and time for my little one to get up so we can get our homeschool day going. I'm never really online for any length of time after that.... just little snippets here and there. So, my primary time to be online is a couple hours in the morning and that's it. And it works. I feel like I've "had my fill" and am satisfied.
So, I'm with you, kiddo. There's more to life than being online but I think somehow our world has forgotten that. I think it's time to "unforget" it. Sounds like you have.
Love ya bunches~ Andrea

Trixi,
Sounds like you and I are on about the same schedule.
It is the 'enemy' that tries to pull us away from our God-given duties!!
*I think* to many people have 'computer' relationships, and not real life relationship. Computer relationships are easier to maintain, and easier to walk away from.....and we live in a convenience laden world. Fast friendships, fast everything. It's sad.
I love reading your blogs!!!

Trixi I too get up with my DH in the mornings (4am sharp for four days in a row and then 6am for four days) After I have prepared his lunch for the day and see him off to work is when I get to work on planning my day. I have my 'quiet' time and then I have approx. an hour and a half on the computer to catch up on blogging and reading other blogs. Then I prepare for the school day. Waking the DC around 7:45. I love my mornings where it is just God and I and my blogging friends.
I look forward to learning more about you and your family and reading your homesteading blogs.
Be blessed in the Lord and have a great week.

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
