A parallel to blood.....

As some of you know, we go to a kind of home church. The first session of our service is the Lord's table. We take it every Sunday except Potluck Sunday. During this time the men share different verses pertaining to the blood and body of Jesus Christ. It is a wonderful time of reflection and the true meaning of the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf. This Sunday the verse Leviticus 17:11 was shared....
For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for you souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.
The parallel here that God uses is just so good to me. Our bodies can lose a limb, an eye, we can even be kept going without a heart for a while by using a machine. However, we can not sustain life without blood. So just as our flesh needs blood, so does our soul need the blood of Jesus Christ. I love the pictures God has given us.
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Blessings,
Trixi

Amen!
Do you home church with other families? Did you used to go to a 'building' church, and you and other families decided to home church??
I am very curious about this. We have not had a 'church home' in some time.
Thanks Trixi! I love your blog, it is always so encouraging.

Laura,
It's a group that did go to a church about 20 years ago. They started with just 3 or 4 families back then. It is quite larger now and has broken off into 2 groups now. However, it has the same concept. We meet in an old trailer on someone's land. We have no pastor because all men are high priests of their family. The men all share. It's just a really neat thing. We don't have all of the power control issues that I have seen is sooo many churches. Before, we started I use to meet with a ladies Bible study and was encouraged to search out what the New Testament church was. It changed our whole out look on church. It's not perfect but as far as growth and accountability, it's very close.

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
