Submission, what is it really?

This is the day that the Lord has made.

I keep seeing entries that in some way or another are tackling this subject.  So I thought I would give it a try.  Submission in a marriage is just a picture of God's relationship to the church, which is us as believers.  This is simple, if God were to ask something of you, you would be running to do it. (I hope)  So we are to want to please and obey our husbands with this same enthusiasm.  I don't want to sound as if I have this thing down.  I struggle daily with this but I do try.  Infact, I am making it my mission to obey my husband.  I fail miserably sometimes but it is still my mission.  1Tim. 3:11, calls us to be faithful in all things.  I want my husband to know that I am faithful.  Prov. 14:1 says, A wise woman builds her house but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands.  I want to be wise not foolish.  I also want to be a crown to my husband. Prov.12:4   If I am constantly fighting him is he going to feel like I am a crown.  If he doesn't feel like I am a crown to him then God definitely doesn't.  I know this is harder for some women than it is for me.  I have a really laid back husband.  I keep my house neat and food on the table.  I make sure my children are being educated and this is about all it takes for him to be happy.  Well, there are a few other things...LOL   My job is not real hard, but even if it were I would hope that I would still try to submit as unto the Lord.   I love my position and my  job in this family and I take it very seriously.  I challenge you to search the scriptures for the requirements of a wife.

Titus 2:3-5, Eph. 5:22-24

Trixi

Yes it is a character quality that takes learning. I do not know any lady that has it down all of the time. I also struggle and yet I am striving. That is what the Lord wants We need to keep growing in our christian walk

Thanks for your great information. I have recently begun to get very serious about submitting to my husband. I have an 18 year old daughter and I am teaching her about being a wife and mom. My husband is very happy when I am submissive. It makes his role as provider, leader and protector so much easier. Like you, I work hard to keep a nice home and take good care of our children. I agree that it doesn't take a lot to please a husband. A good meal that's ready when he gets home is worth a lot to him! Bless you today..........Denise (prairiemom)

I share your thoughts

Thank you for your post today...I share in your convictions on this. I appreciate the comments you made on another blog-things I was also pondering after I had left my thoughts...you summed it up well. Submission can be a struggle at times, but God's ways are above our own.

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
