Tolerance and are we too tolerant?

| This is the day that the Lord has made. |
I am writing this because I read a blog over at spinning grandma's new blog site discussing this very topic. The colonist came to America for religious freedom. They were Christians and were being persecuted in England. There were some horrible atrocities done to the Indians and many other races in the name of religion. That is not what God would have done, probably, but nevertheless it has been done. However, God knows all and everything works together for His good. So all in all, He has a plan and it is all in play as we speak. I believe when people talk about tolerance they mean tolerance for them. I would like for people to also be tolerant to me speaking out about my Lord and Saviour, who died for all people those who believe in Him and those who don't. I believe we need to quit being so tolerant of people slandering God. We need to take a bolder stand. Those same people who bash Him are going to die a firery death. We need to be praying vigorously for their souls. I don't see people or the media being very tolerant to Christians and I think maybe it is time for us to not be tolerant either. We should be shouting the Gospel of Jesus Christ from the roof tops.
Last but not least, my husband was gone for a year and a half last year to help liberate Iraq. He did this in hopes that those people one day may have the opportunity to just hear the Gospel. We live in a free country and I feel like if you are so ashamed of our great country why do you live here? I just don't understand that. There are plenty of places one could go that does not allow religious freedom. Places where you would be shot for saying you are ashamed of your country. I will now step down from my soap box for the day.
Blessings,
Trixi

Hi Trixi,
I agree! I thought of the verse yesterday and don't have the ref. as I write, "If you proclaim Me I will proclaim you to my Father who is in Heaven" I can't remember what I was thinking yesterday that the Holy Spirit reminded me of it. If I could do a rolly eyed smiley I would. :)
Thanks for your post!
Blessings, Theresa

Hi! I'm afraid that the USA is a very tolerant nation - with the exception of Christians that really take a stand. As long as you believe that Christianity is only one of many ways to reach God, you're fine. There is a brand of non-judgmental, easy-going, have a drink, curse-but-I-am-working-on-it "Christianity" that no one seems to have a problem with . . . .
Are we as Christians too tolerant? Yes and no. I believe our freedoms are being stripped away, but I don't think Christ has called us to infilterate and change our political system. Lol
Ok, I'm rambling. But I wanted to leave a comment! :)
Tolerance is a Lie

Oh yes, America has become SOOO tolerant. Yes, we teach tolerance in our schools, but if you even THINK of mentioning Jesus, or the word CHRISTmas, or the True meaning of Easter.......you are tarred and feathered. We are tolerant of EVERY WICKED SIN in the Bible..........but we are INTOLERANT toward the Word of God, those who believe and those who Worship Him.
GOD BLESS YOUR HUSBAND!!! He is a TRUE American, a Brave man, blessed of God!! Thank you!
It sickens me to see the 'tolerance' we have towards sin, and the intolerance and down right persecution that Christians face. It's a free for all, until you say the Name Jesus Christ!! Name Above All others.

“I want to know one thing,” said John Wesley, “—the way to heaven: how to land safe on that happy shore. God himself has condescended to teach the way. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book.”
