Monday, May 8, 2006 Today was a good day
Well, Jason and I both actually got a day off together today. It was great, we actually got a lot accomplished. We have a little 4' x 4' space by our porch that was filled with decorative rocks and a big stump. I cleared it all out so we can lay some decorative bricks down instead and maybe, once we can afford it, find a nice little fountain to put there also. Jason, meanwhile, was roto-tilling and creating our second little garden. We have one that's about 4' x 8' and now we have another one that's roughly about the same size. We have lots of peppers planted and a few tomatoes and zuccinis too. Now we just have to fill our new little garden. We have a bunch more peppers to plant. On our picnic table we have green onions and some vidalias growing in some planters. Hopefully they work, we've never planted anything in planters before.
Jason was weed-wacking today and almost, thank god he didn't, hit a baby rabbit. I picked it up and it was the cutest little thing. It looked ok so I set him down by our compost pile and he made himself comfy. I just hope the mother won't reject him now with my scent on him.

| Whew! Thank god for Jason! He has his own website and is good at all that stuff, so he has been helping me out. Before I know it, I'll look like a pro at this blog stuff! |

Sunday, April 30, 2006 Getting there!
I'm starting to get the hang of this. Thanks for the comments and welcomes. I've been searching through people's blogs to get an idea of what to do and am slowly learning the process. It's just sort of overwhelming at first since I've never done this before. I've had plenty of time today to learn since it's cold and rainy outside, which figures because it's my day off!
We don't have too much homesteading experience yet because we're young and both from the city. We do have a pretty small but workable garden and enjoy canning a lot. Once everything starts growing and ripening I'll probably be asking for a recipe here and there. I love trying new ones!
I just want to say that I am looking forward to talking to different people and learning about the homesteading life! |

Saturday, April 29, 2006 Hopefully I'm Doing This Right!!
Well, this is officially my first entry. I have no idea what I'm doing but I've always thought it'd be neat to have a blog, so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm in the process of trying to get everything set up the way I want it, so hopefully soon I'll get it all figured out. Any advice would probably be helpful so let me know if you have any. And I thank you in advance!
