:: Winter Skin Care-Moisturizer

Moisturizer 2 tablespoons apricot kernel oil 1/4 cup walnut oil 1/4 cup stearic acid powder 1/2 teaspoon aloe vera gel 1 cup distilled water Combine the oils and stearic acid powder in a heat resistant container. Combine the baking soda, aloe vera gel, and water in another heat-resistant container. Heat the oil mixture in a water bath until the mixture is a clear liquid and all the stearic acid powder is melted. Heat the water solution until just boiling (in the same water bath or 1-2 minutes in the microwave). Slowly add 1/3 of the water solution to the oil mixture and stir. The combination will foam slightly while carbon dioxide is released. Pur the mixture into a blender and stir. Add the rest of the water mixture in a slow, steady stream and blend on high. The mixture will be a white fluffly cream. Spoon the cream into a clean dry container and allow to cool completely. Massage a small amount of the cream on your face and neck. Store the cream in a cool, dry place. Yields 12 ounces
Works wonders on itchy, dry skin. The stearic acid gives this moisturizer a lighter feel and texture with no oily film. Beeswax lends a heavier texture. If you desire a heavier cream, substitute beeswax for the stearic acid. Stearic acid is a natural butter acid obtained from fats and oils. You can purchase it from chemical supply companies or craft stores, in the candle making section. It produces longer-burning candles.
