Another busy day

I have a cleaning job today.

Then I will meet Kim and we will clean the house that our friends are moving into.

At some point, I need to return a few things to the Library.

**********

I need to finish up my grocery list so I can get to the store tomorrow after our HouseChurch meeting.

We found out yesterday that some more friends of ours are joining us for Thanksgiving.  We are so excited!!!       Looks like it will be 21 people around the table(s).          Kim is stressing.  Me?  I just told her, "So what if it isn't a Martha Stewart style Thanksgiving."  Not that THAT is what Kim is wanting...me either.  We are not *FORMAL* entertainers with a classy set of china dinnerware and crystal drinking glasses.  We are the *family style buffet* kind of entertainers.

Well, I need to get moving.

Hope ya'll have a great day.

In Him,  Jill (the big sister)

In everything, give Him thanks.

Yesterday was our 15th anniversary!!!  I remember people thinking we were a little nutty and it was not going to last.....Then again...we had only known each other a couple of months...he was a sailor and I was a 19 year old working at a resort ....I could see where they might have thought something....heehee.  Bigdaddy and I knew better...we knew we would love each other through it all...the ups and downs.  And we have...What a ride it has been....I would not trade any of it...the good or the bad...It has all made us the family we are today.  We are opposite in so many ways but we have the same goal in mind...so it works wonderfully.  SO...if I could go back in time and talk to myself on that day I would have to say..."calm down girl...sure you will screw up on occassion but you will eventually learn to cook, you really do enjoy being a stay at home mommy and this man is the real thing, not an ounce of fake in him!!!"  God made no mistake putting me together with him....He has a plan!!!"  And what a beautiful life it has become!!!

It's giveaway time again! A Christmas Package

I posted once before about all the "free" stuff I receive in the mail from many organizations and charities that I sometimes donate to. Well once again I have an abundance of items that I will not be using. This times it's Christmas cards and gift labels. I am not the type of person that throws ANYTHING away. I always try to find another use for it or another home for things.

So I thought with times being the way they are and just yesterday on the blog someone mentioned that they can not afford to buy or mail cards this year, I thought I would offer a package that may be helpful to someone.

I have a package that I have put together that includes the following items.

  • 72 gift tags
  • 35 or so Christmas cards with envelopes from different organizations or groups, all too cute.
  • a 2009 wall calendar
  • a smaller one page 2009 calendar with a conversion chart on the reverse side, great for the kids.
  • a Christmas CD with 29 great Christmas songs on it from the Disabled Vets
  • I will also include a book of 20 Christmas theme, (if I can get Christmas ones) stamps to help with the mailing of the cards.
  • And maybe an extra added surprise or two for good measure, lol.

Sorry I don't have a picture, my camera is still not working, I'm so lost without it too. So if anyone is interested in these items just leave a comment here on my blog. If I should get more than one comment I will draw a winner from the bunch. I will let this ride over the weekend and pull on Monday morning. Hope this is helpful to someone.

My baby turns 4!!!!

Our youngest is 4!!!  She is the class clown and very, ummm, passionate for life!!!  I could not imagine our world without her in it.  She is God's gift to us...and proof the He has a sense of humor...  We never really planned on having such a "big" family (by today's standards)...Our oldest we planned to the last minute...our 2nd was hard fought but we finally got him...our third was a shock to us all...our fourth (a suprise too) never had the chance to be here with us on earth...at 15 weeks pregnant we lost him...we then promptly decided that we could let things end there...2 months later I became pregnant again...ON PURPOSE!!!  We even took a family vote....it was yes all around!!!  Some days when P is in a foul mood one of the kids will want to take their vote back they say....they don't mean it of course....All of my kids are unique...they all have their own way of doing and thinking... The oldest is creative and a bit of a tomboy...the 2nd and only boy is a train obbsessed guy...he is sensitive (with all these girls how could he help it) and very mechanically inclined.  My 6 year old is the fashion diva girly girl in a house of tomboys and men...God help her...Even as a tiny one I thought she had a very old soul....she is really growing into that for sure...She would just as soon be hanging with grandma than rolling in the dirt...(she will lower herself if it looks like fun though!)  The "I am not a baby" baby is going to be something as she grows up...I pray she uses her gifts for good...heehee (kidding)  She is soooo caring and sweet and her love of living is contagious!!!!  She is NEVER clean and her beautiful long brown hair is never tame...but she is always ready to go and do...whatever!

I'm paying ...

for my stupidity.     I won't go into detail, but my rear part, back and hip are the offended ...  my car the offender.

I am just so thankful that the outcome of the situation is not any worse than it could have been.

Anyway, today is a new day.  A cold and windy day.  Little R will be here shortly.  It is difficult to get anything done while he is here. I'm hoping he takes a good nap so I can bake some snacks.  We will be doing school.  I also want to post a recipe I found, that I want to try.

Gotta run.

Hope ya'll have a great day.

In Him,  Jill (the big sister)

In everything, give Him thanks.  (even for the bumps and bruises)

Cold Here in Montana

Just a quick greeting for my blogging friends from the frigid North Country.

We have had such a temperate fall that cooler temps and a tiny bit of snow makes for a change. The woodstove is even more appealing on these cold days and nights. I'm thinking this winter I will do more cooking on the woodstove.

Today I did some cleaning for an 80 year old friend as I do every other week. She is preparing for some Thanksgiving guests and wants her house to be in order. Although she has family in town, her husband has Alzheimer's disease, so she enjoys some conversation. She is very intelligent and has a great sense of humor, so spending time at her house is a pleasure.

She lives near Jonny's school, making it easy for me to walk over and have lunch with him.

I talked with Maria on the phone last night. She and her two assistant cooks had just finished their end of the semester "Christmas" banquet at Montana Wilderness School of the Bible. She said it went well and everyone had lots of fun. There were plenty of desserts left over and she froze them. I told her to please keep them up there because they would be a terrible temptation for her dad and me, not to mention her brother. She said that baklava was the favorite dessert and some of the others were: coconut bonbons and chocolate covered cherries. All were handmade. Oh my...

We will drive to MWSB on Sunday to loan Maria a vehicle. Last weekend, she was driving and hit a rock, tearing a hole in her oil pan. When her engine ran out of oil, the vehicle stopped moving. She will need a new engine in order to use the car.

We all had visions of dollar signs in our minds, but her insurance will likely pay all but $500 of her repair bill. When David called her to tell her the good news, she said, "Oh, Jesus loves me!"

The library won't be open next Thursday, of course, so I will take this opportunity to wish you all a very blessed Thanksgiving.

Pumpkin Pie Coffee Creamer

I love the liquid coffee creamers that come in all kinds of yummy flavors, but… I don’t like the unhealthy ingredients they contain. So every now and again I try my hand at making my own with better quality ingredients. I made this one today and I hope you enjoy it too!
.
.
Pumpkin Pie Coffee Creamer
Crystal Miller

1 cup half-n-half
½ cup cane juice crystals (can use white sugar instead)
3T canned pumpkin
½ t vanilla
½ t cinnamon
¼ t ginger
1/8 t nutmeg
1/8 t cloves

Combine all ingredients in a small sauce pan. Heat until cane juice crystals dissolved and ingredients are well combined. Enjoy in a hot cup of coffee. Store in refrigerator.
