Good Thursday Morning!

It is a rainy one here today.  We woke up to a down pour of rain and Thunder.  Making it difficult to rise this morning.  I like to listen to it.

We can't complain about the weather.  We had a good stretch of summer and the past week we have had a lot of rain, which has been perfect for the second plantings of some vegetables and herbs.  I restarted some a week ago today and they are all up and growing fast!

We have had such a busy summer!  I have been canning and preserving, working on our home.  We have been trying to pick at that list I mentioned a while ago.  The weather has been too humid for exterior painting.  But I hope to get the garage done before we start the school year.  My husband will be finally putting in a new floor in the livingroom this weekend and the following maybe starting on a new hearth for the livingroom.  We are excited.  Our new stove should be in a few weeks.  Now we will have three sources of heat for our home.  My DH has been cutting wood on almost every day off.   We will all appreciate his efforts this winter.

I have been fairing well at tag/garage sales.  For little money I have found some great art, shelves and storage cabinets.  I am still also finding oops paint for $1.  That is what I am using to give these items a face lift.  A few weeks ago I found this great 50's tablecloth.  The colors are perfect for my newly painted rear entrance.  I am going to make a curtain out of it.

I also purchased new curtains for our living room from Country Curtains.  I have been eye balling these for two years!  I am just too cheap sometimes.  Boy, do I regret not doing it sooner!  I purchased the energy efficient foam insulated curtains that are machine washable.  Our living room is ten degrees cooler!  Not to mention quieter!  We love them.  We also put them in two of the bedrooms.  Honestly, for a little money you can save more on your energy bills.  I have very wide width windows in my livingroom, so it cost me about $200 for them, but for standard bedroom windows a set is about $35.  It seems funny to be promoting to purchase something new, because I am the type that recycles everything and or finds it for $1, but in the long run I will still be satisfying my need to be greener.

Well, I best be finishing morning chores.  We have bible study in a few short hours.

Have a wonderful day!
