Have any of you.....

Have any of you ever wrote articles for magazines and have them published?  I am just curious.  I have submitted a couple and just waiting to hear from them.  Also have any of you ever entered an recipe contest or cooking contest?  This has always intrigued me and I am just wondering how difficult it is.  Please tell me your experiences.

I have written a few. The highest paid one was a submission I wrote for Victoria magazine years ago. They paid me $75 US for it which at the time was approx. $170 NZ. Be prepared for long waits on acceptance for articles and heavy editing. The one I wrote for Victoria was virtually cut in half. Some magazines don't even bother to reply any more, unless it's accepted. Don't give up though, and keep submitting. It's getting them familiar with your name and writing style that's important.
