Random Thoughts

My husband and I are going out to dinner tonight (related to his work).  I haven't left the children with a sitter in 2 years (we usually use Grandparents). I've never met the young lady who is coming, but she came on a recommendation of my sister's friend from church.  Needless to say...I'M NERVOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My oldest (or is it eldest) child is at school and I miss her.  So do my other two children (ages 5 and 3).  We homeschooled the first part of the year, then I started feeling incapable and as if I was ruining her educational future, so I enrolled her back in public school.  It's not going well...SHE is doing GREAT, and is making straight A's, but the homework load and project load is ENORMOUS!!!!!!!!!!!  She's only in the 4th grade!  Poor child has no time to play, bake or sew...all things of which she truly loves to do.  I am definately going to continue to be in deep prayer about this.  I know that God will provide an answer.  I acatually think he already has...I'm just not listening to Him!!  Aren't I a stubborn little sheep!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Shay,
I remember the day that my oldest who is 13 now was in 3rd grade. She had been in school since Kindergarden and I "swore" I would never homeschool. That was the most horrible year of our lives without getting into detail. Anyways I started homeschooling the next year haha. God had to give us a neon sign. One which I am not going to need with my younger two. I'll admit I too feel inadequate at times but if you can do nothing else start with the basics. Reading, writing and arithmatics. God will bless your efforts. Don't give up. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
God bless,
Kim

Thank you so much Kim for your gentle encouragement! We do have a wonderful Lord who blesses us daily (hourly for that matter), I need to remember, like you said, that He will be there to strengthen us and to bless our works.
Have a Blessed Day!
Shay

I have to ditto what was said before. I was one of those that swore I would never homeschool my children. My oldest daughter is deaf (more on that at www.homeschoolblogger.com/talkingfingers) and I felt I could never do that anyway. God is much bigger than we give Him credit for! Four years later I am still homeschooling. My daughter may be lacking in a few "educational" areas (as prioritized by the public school system), but she is learning about God and Jesus in a family setting, she is learning to read, and communicate well. We feel what she has is far better than anything a school setting could ever offer.

I will admit there are days I want to send her to deaf school where she will be surrounded by her language, but God always brings me back.

Just continue to pray and let God guide you. And be open to where he wants you to go. He is not going to ask you do something He is not prepared to help you through. It is through His stregnth not your own. Best to you!
