~ Homefires ~

  The morning meal has been made and the fire is burning in the fireplace. Hubby is cuddled up in front of it with his head deeply buried in the soft pillow. Kaydy sound asleep with warm thoughts flowing. I'm typing this out and just thinking how really thankful I am. The bills are piled high and I'm sure someone will call about something later but for now. All is well with my soul, as I was reading Gods word a peace just calmed my soul letting me know that all is well...........Have a wonderful day .I am.

Psalm 37

Of David.

 1 [a] Do not fret because of evil men
       or be envious of those who do wrong;

 2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
       like green plants they will soon die away.

 3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
       dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

 4 Delight yourself in the LORD
       and he will give you the desires of your heart.

 5 Commit your way to the LORD;
       trust in him and he will do this:

 6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
       the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

 7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
       do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
       when they carry out their wicked schemes.

 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
       do not fret—it leads only to evil.

 9 For evil men will be cut off,
       but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.

 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
       though you look for them, they will not be found.

 11 But the meek will inherit the land
       and enjoy great peace.

 12 The wicked plot against the righteous
       and gnash their teeth at them;

 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
       for he knows their day is coming.

 14 The wicked draw the sword
       and bend the bow
       to bring down the poor and needy,
       to slay those whose ways are upright.

 15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
       and their bows will be broken.

 16 Better the little that the righteous have
       than the wealth of many wicked;

 17 for the power of the wicked will be broken,
       but the LORD upholds the righteous.

 18 The days of the blameless are known to the LORD,
       and their inheritance will endure forever.

 19 In times of disaster they will not wither;
       in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.

 20 But the wicked will perish:
       The LORD's enemies will be like the beauty of the fields,
       they will vanish—vanish like smoke.

 21 The wicked borrow and do not repay,
       but the righteous give generously;

 22 those the LORD blesses will inherit the land,
       but those he curses will be cut off.

 23 If the LORD delights in a man's way,
       he makes his steps firm;

 24 though he stumble, he will not fall,
       for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

 25 I was young and now I am old,
       yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
       or their children begging bread.

 26 They are always generous and lend freely;
       their children will be blessed.

 27 Turn from evil and do good;
       then you will dwell in the land forever.

 28 For the LORD loves the just
       and will not forsake his faithful ones.
       They will be protected forever,
       but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off;

 29 the righteous will inherit the land
       and dwell in it forever.

 30 The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom,
       and his tongue speaks what is just.

 31 The law of his God is in his heart;
       his feet do not slip.

 32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous,
       seeking their very lives;

 33 but the LORD will not leave them in their power
       or let them be condemned when brought to trial.

 34 Wait for the LORD
       and keep his way.
       He will exalt you to inherit the land;
       when the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

 35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
       flourishing like a green tree in its native soil,

 36 but he soon passed away and was no more;
       though I looked for him, he could not be found.

 37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
       there is a future [b] for the man of peace.

 38 But all sinners will be destroyed;
       the future [c] of the wicked will be cut off.

 39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD;
       he is their stronghold in time of trouble.

 40 The LORD helps them and delivers them;
       he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
       because they take refuge in him.

~ Over the wall ! ~

         I couldn't figure it out. I had been getting an egg from all my girls and then all of a sudden, I droped to 4. Now mind you I know the weather has a lot to do with the laying, sun light all that.........I thought that was it.........but when my hubby found a nest with about 14 eggs in it,, well lets just say they weren't bird eggs, unless a big bird stopped by.lol. But when I go out to feed, they are all accounted for. Those gals were flying over the fence while I was at work then coming back in before I got home................who said chickens were dumb !!!!!! So last night hubby and I had a little clipping to do. I let them run free in the afternoon, but always left them in the chicken yard until after they all layed for the day.. those girls...........sasstfras

~ cool nights ~

     The weather has turned cold. I really don't mind this time of year, because I am a reader. With the nights coming on at 6:30. We get our chores done then head to the house. I can then cuddle up with my tea and soft blanket and read. I get to plan my next years garden or maybe do some needle work.  Most of all everyone sticks close to the house and we spend more time together. That I like most of all. All of you stay warm and have a good night..................sassyfras

~ my kitchen ~

        I thought I would post my kitchen. This is where I spend most  of my time so here goes. The picture on the wall says "Home is where the story begins"

I have a flower pot that matches my buddies on the other side. It holds the things I use everyday.

See my buddies, snail and froggy, they match my flower pot on the other side. I know they should go outside but i did really by them for my kitchen.

I keep my everyday items for cooking ready to use also. In my large canning jars I have my beans, navy and northern, each jar holds 3 meals. Mac in one, it will do 3 helpings of mac/cheese. Noodles will do 2 helpings 1 beef/noodles and one tuna/noodles. I jar of bowtie pasta, 2 helpings with cream sauce and mushrooms. So in those 5 jars I have two weeks of suppers and in my pantry, I can refill for my other two. This helps me with my budget, of 200 a month.

Thanks for touring my kitchen, please if you have your kitchen on your blog, let me know. I would love to see how other people have their Heart of the Home done........................sherry

~ Saturday evening ~

           Our family didn't do much today. I am a little under the weather, so didn't even cook other than dinner. Our elc. went out this afternoon for about 3 hours. I read alittle then just laid still for awhile.  I have been working on my blog page, so please over look it .

           I've been working on my notebook. I have put in sections for things before work and then after. I do most of my chores in the evening, right after supper. I only like to spend about 30 min. the rest the time is for relaxing and family. I rise at 3:30 ,take my shower, read,blog than fix the morning meal. I then leave for work. I get home before our daughter, so thats when I clean. I like my house clean, but not so clean my daughter can't play or the grandkids don't feel comfortable. I try to have something cooking so the house smells good.

            Gods been so good to us. He knows that I am a help meet to my hubby, I am a God fearing woman, and that we raise our children to love Him, We are blessed..............................

Titus 2

A God-Filled Life

 1-6Your job is to speak out on the things that make for solid doctrine. Guide older men into lives of temperance, dignity, and wisdom, into healthy faith, love, and endurance. Guide older women into lives of reverence so they end up as neither gossips nor drunks, but models of goodness. By looking at them, the younger women will know how to love their husbands and children, be virtuous and pure, keep a good house, be good wives. We don't want anyone looking down on God's Message because of their behavior. Also, guide the young men to live disciplined lives

~ Food prices ~

Things are going up, I thought the reason was gas, but gas has been going down. Another thing is that the storms that came in hurt some farmland. But with price of grain, farmers are selling off cattle, which should of brought our prices down. One thing that they are looking into is people just charging more then they should.....I was wondering if anyone knew a site for homestorage for food. I don't want a doom and gloom site that says I need guns and the like I just want a site that will teach me what my family would need to have stored if my hubby or I lost our job or prices went so high that we just couldn't fit as much in our budget. I trust God in all our life, but I also know to be a good servant in what he has given us. So if your site talks about this sort of thing, please drop me a line and everyone have a wonderful day. Remember God is in charge, he will not leave us...................................me

~ Me and my sisters ~

      My sisters and i started our diets today, until New years. I am the largest of us three, not something that I am proud of. The one thing I can't figure out is that I'm not a big eater. I don't pigout on anything and even on weekends my hubby tells me to eat. I cook meals thats not a problem as you know if you read my blog. I just don't eat. I'm on thyroid meds, so I know thats not causing it.  Does anyone have a plan that works for the person like me.. Tell me what you do...........I.m not a pill person, just want food changes....

~ This months supplies ~

     I have been working on being a better home keeper. My husband does trust in me to use what the Lord has given us to the best that I can. He never has taken charge against me for the money that  I spend. He knows that I spend carefully. To some this might not seem like much but to me it means a lot. One way I have been doing better is on our food bill. This is just a run down on what I sometimes do.

    I went thursday night and got everything I needed for this months meals. I did change some as walmart here had 3lbs chicken breast for under $5 so I picked up an extra bag of it . It has smaller breasts, but more of them then in the other bag i was getting.

  • I fix  chicken tacos out of 2. This works great by the time I cook together 2 lg bell peppers, whole sweet onion, then add lettuce, sour cream, shredded cheese and roll it in a big floured taco shell it makes plenty for us. I can then serve refried beans I had cooked over the weekend in the crock pot, just smash some beans add some cumin and cheese and dinner is fixed.
  •  I take 3 ,pound them out thin, dip them in a egg wash, roll in seasoned bread crumbs and fry. Put smashed taters on the plate beside chicken add brown gravy over top, add veggy for side and done. If I have bigger breast meat I cut them in two.
  • I take 2 breasts ,cook in chicken broth until done, shred and add homemade noodles, heat up rolls, and greenbeans done.
  • I take 3, cut into strips, dip into egg wash, roll in seasoned flour, and fry.  serve with onion rings or fries. salad
  •  I will use 2 for chcken soup, cook in broth, shred , add carrots,onion, turnup, cabbage, celery, few cubed taters , green beans, corn and yum, yum...........add corn bread or crackers

             This was out of one bag. I cook for 2 adults and one teenager. I do try to have icecream or some kind of sweet after dinner. Our daughter is also learning to fix these meals with me. I want her to know how to stretch a meal. Our oldest, is a great cook and also provides filling neals for her family. She loves to try new meals, and is a great cook.....I hate to say but better then me, but then again don't we want our children to be better. Have a great day...............................................

~ This months food bill ~

      Oct. was pretty good I stayed on my budget. I will buy our food needs by Fri. I have stayed at $200. for the last 4 months. This month I will buy my thanksgiving items and praise the Lord, my family doesn't like all the extra stuff...they like turkey/dressing, homemade noodles, greenbeans, mashed taters,/gravy, pumpkin pie, persimmon pudding. I have everything needed except the turkey, which I will buy as the stores start putting them on sell. Then I will look for the best buy. Our family likes homecooking, not much for the fancy things. My hubby and I grew up on a pot of beans ,fried taters and some kind of meat. Cottage cheese was always on the table along with,celery /radishes and if up to me a dish of pickled beets/ cucumbers in salt water. We never left the table hungery. My mother in law never has a meal with out pie,cake or pudding. This up -bringing maked my meals very simple, but filling.

        We started the budget on the rest of the house this last month. So far so good. I don't use my debit/ check card or anything else except cash. I do send my bills out by check, I don't do them on line anymore. This way I see the money go out. I did learn that if I have to use my cash allowance for something I do think twice and most of the time I won't buy. It is harder to hand out cash then to swipe that debit card. Cash I see leave my hand, the card takes it out of my checking acc. but I don't see it leave. Funny how your mind works

         Anyway time for me to leave for work all of you have a great day........................blondie

~ hard times ~

   With the cost of everything going up our family is working on everything we can to help lower the bills. We have unpluged anything that doesn't need to run full time. The only thing left pluged in is the stove, frig,everything else is pluged in only when we need it. I put caulking around all the windows and door frames outside, and put down draft buddies under the door frames. at night I close all curtains and only open the ones during the day that have sunlight come in. I'm trying to learn all the ways to save i can. Do you have any good ways you are trying?

~ Cooler day, but blessed ~

     The house was cooler when I got up this morning. The oven will feel good when I get to cooking biscuits and gravy after I am done here. The family is sleeping in, something we don't do very often. The sun will rise here in a little while, and I will go let out the chickens. Our son and family have gone to Indy for the weekend but should be back today. Our oldest daughter has moved to NC, with her family to be with her hubby.I sure miss them. I'm not one who likes the children out of site out of mind.....I like to hug and talk and know all about their lifes. I know times are hard with all of us, but just look at your family how can you not be blessed.........

     As some of you know we have been looking for a new church home. This is not easy as there are many places that are called Gods house, that are not. One thing that is hard for me is that I'm not one to go to a church just because the rest the family goes there or it has the so called right name, or group giving it it's rules. I want a bible believing, preaching church, one that is not going to go around things just so the person with the biggest pocket book won't get mad. or a church that thinks if you bribe the kids to come that thats ok, just get them here and we will do the rest.......how can you start out a christian walk like that? Anyway please keep us in your prayers on this. I hope everyone has a good day and God Bless,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,blondie (grandpa thinking of you today)

~ wonderful day ~

                  As I beat the rugs out on the porch post this morning I couldn't help but smile and think how many more women were out there this morning doing the same thing. God is so good.............even doing my chores I feel blessed. I then came in and ran them through the wash and mopped my floor. The smell of bleach and downy fill the air  LOL.

                 The cooking is done for the weekend. Chicken/dumplings, chicken veg. soup and chicken shredded for bbq.  That way I get to spend time with my family, we have done this for years. I cook if the other children are home. Hubby  will dig me some taters later tonight, after we get back from the church. They are having a sing tonight. 5 churches are coming. I can't wait.........

                    I hope all of you have a good weekend. .....blondie

I now have enough laying to not have to buy eggs again.....Praise God.......now come spring I pray that some of the ladies will want to nest. Then I'll have fresh chicken for the freezer and this time next year a cash crop to add to the family budget. Isn't life funny when you can get so excited over just a few eggs....one of my all time best movies to watch is The Egg and I.....I love that movie......LOL...blondie
