The kids stayed home most of last week with colds, and of course now I have it.uhgg!

We spent the weekend cleaning up the new place alittle, and the kids played on the trampoline, and Jake our colt, 10mo. old finally came upto us and let us pet him.  This is a big step, we have had his mother since Aug. and then bought Jake about 3 mo. ago, and it has taken him this long to come around.

Went to lowes on Sunday and picked up supplies for the handy man, he has been here since Monday, the first day he fixed the waterline were it comes in to the house, finished putting up the rafters (about 10) and started re wiring the house, he finished the wiring in the living room and kitchen and today will finish the kids room hall and bathroom.  That will take him all day, I guess.

Then all we have to do is put up  the insulation in that part of the house, and put the plywood over that, and make more wall extension.  This is a old trailer we are raising the roof 2 feet, so hubby doesn't hit is head. then we can do the fun stuff.  I purchased knobby pine planks for the interior walls, and hard wood for the kitchen floor, and carpet for the rest, and we have white wood looking planks for the ceiling tile, then we can move in.  I'm getting so excited.

Once we are up there we can do more each day, right now I just want to get in there and out of this super small trailer, it is 12x40 and there are 5 -6 of us here, the kids and I have taken to sleeping in the rv.

Jerry has been off-shore surveying the damage to the oil rigs form the hurricanes, and he e-mailed me and said they might be done this week end. HOORAY!!! He has been gone since before Christmas.  Won't he be surprised to see how much has gotten done.

Well let me get off here, so I can wait for his phone call.  Hope you all have a great day.

• 2006-Jan-3 - What to do today

There is alot I'd like to get done today, it's hard to get started when husband is away (next 5 weeks).  I will be going to town to get feed, and to send the car note.

I need to finish the last load of laundry, I like it when the hamper is empty.  pick up the yard, maybe give the dog a bath, oh! I also need to call and make an appointment to bring the truck in for service, and to have the front end aligned on the car, and I need to call the handy man.  He is really remodeling our home up the road, since husband is working out of state, this is the only way it is going to get finished.  He is a very busy handyman, he is usually booked for 2 weeks in advance.  If he could come for about 3 to 5 days straight, I think we could get buy and move in and go from there.

For dinner I'm thinking meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and green beans.

Well I still haven't fed everyone (animals) so let me go tell them all good morning and fill their bellies, and get stuff going around here.

I hope you all have a very productive day.

• 2006-Jan-2 - our story

I have 3 children all boy's, I used to wait tables (20yrs.) one of my customers told me I was just destined to have good looking men n my life, hence the 3 boy's.  I was a single mother with 2 of them for 18yrs, not much fun.  Though I always had the support of my parents.

My husband and I met while I was working in a Steak house in S.E. Texas, We have been together for 7 1/2 years, and he is my Knight in shining armor, I knew I would keep him at our First Christmas, I ran out of time to make cookies for Santa, and I had to work till 2:00am, so on his own he purchased everything, I mean even the mixing bowls and pans, and found recipes on the net, and made cookies all night.  Yep he is a keeper.

Kids are 24, 12  and we have 6 yr. old together, and he is the light of his Fathers eyes,.  Grandson 3 also lives with us, I'am the only female.  My husband is 53 and has 2 other children already grown.

My husband is a contractor, he designs off-shore oil rigs, and we go where the money is.  Well we did, in the last 7 yrs. we moved 8 or 9 times.  Nov. 04 Jerry had been out of work long enough that we lost our home and one of our cars.  I remembered my G-mother had left my Mother 2 of her 12 acres, I knew my Mother would never use it.  She gave it to me.

she still doesn't understand why I want to live here.

When we moved to E. Texas last Nov. the plan was the kids and I would be here and Jerry would commute on the weekends from M.S..  I traded a year of child support from middle son's father for a  older conversion van, Jerry was to stay in it during the week.  Well we were here for one week when he was offered a job in WA.  So off he went.

In the 7months he was there working I had 1 of the acres cleared, built a 10x12 chicken house for 12 chickens, a Pig pen and run for 2 pigs and fenced off a space for the 2 goats and built them a small lean- to.  Bought a old used trailer for 500.00 and had a extended roof 32x65 foot roof put over the trailer, the trailer is only 12x 60, we will be adding on to the rest.

We are in the process right now of raising the ceiling, Jerry is tall and was hitting his head on the ceiling fans.  (he is now working in Houston).

We have added 2 horses to our growing family, Molly is 20 and Jake her son is 9mo. old

boy is he a hand full.  We have never had lifestock before so it is a great learning experience.

The best is watching the kids try to wrestle with the goats.

Our goal is to try to get our finances under control and be set here for retirement.

We are considering homeschooling 6 yr. old and are trying to find out all we can and maybe start the beginning of next year.

I can pretty much grow anything and was a garden consultant for Home Depot, in M.S..

Plan on putting in some fruit trees soon, and Jerry is the canner in the family and makes some awesome habanero dips, relishes, and hot sauces, he was even selling to a restuarant in Ms.

I would love to learn how to quilt, so if any one can help there I would be grateful, basics needed.   How to start?

I am not computer literate, so I will try to learn to add pictures and other things as I learn about them.

God bless and I hope you have a safe New Year.
