Summer of Stash Posted in knitting
My friend Lori has started a contest in our knitting group it's called Summer of Stash, the goal is to not buy any yarn all summer - only use up what is in our stashes.
For each project we start we get points, for each project we finish we get points. If we buy no yarn during the summer, we get more points but, if we just can't resist ourselves and we buy some, we lose points.
On the first day of summer we added up the yardage of our stash - I had to weigh mine because a lot of the yarn that I have in my stash (which I was given when I was given my knitting machine) doesn't have ball bands to tell me the yardage in each ball and a lot of the yarn is in partial balls.
I decided that I would start keeping track of my projects for this contest, so on the sidebar I am putting all my information down - the starting and the ending date, projects I have started, projects I have finished.
So far it is turning out to be a very fun contest and I am getting a lot of knitting done - it is turning out to be very interesting to go searching for patterns for small quick projects ... gotta love Ravelry, lol.

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
