New Desks
Posted in Family Life
Last night when Don got home from work he had two matching desks in the back of the truck. We are putting them against the one wall in the Toy Room, making it part school room, the wall that they are on is 10' 6" and the desks just fit in the space. He did have to shorten one of the desks, so his measuring skills were right on the ball, lol. I'll post pictures once it is all finished. We still need to get a couple of desk chairs for them - we want to get the kind that are on wheels and swivel so that when I put a lesson or something up on the whiteboard, they can just swivel their chairs to see what I'm doing.
Josh really surprised both Don and myself - he was getting right in there and helping his Dad to put the desks together, going out and getting the next piece that Don needed without having to be asked to do it. This is something that is very rare for him to do (it is mostly Charlotte that is in there helping her Dad build things), so when Josh asked if he could tighten the screws that hold the legs on Don showed him what to do and then let him go to it. By the time that we called it a night, we had one very exhausted boy, lol, some of those pieces were not the lightest.
I tried a new recipe last night - it's called Upside Down Pizza (it's GF but you could use regular flour in it). There was only one of us that wasn't completely thrilled with it ..... yep, that would be Josh - his main complaint was that it wasn't like the 'old' recipe that I usually make, lol. In other words, it was something that was a little different than what he was expecting when I said we would have Upside Down Pizza for supper (he heard the word 'pizza' and was expecting the usual kind that he gets). The recipe calls for sausage, I used browned hamburger. I didn't have the kind of sauce that they called for so I used salsa and a large can of crushed tomatoes and then added seasonings to it. Both Don and Charlotte voted that it was a "Make again meal" when I asked. Here is the link for it: Upside Down Pizza

~ Live your life in such a way
that when your feet hit
the floor in the morning,
Satan shudders and says. . .
"Oh, great . . . she's awake". ~

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
