Ebay business

Well, I wanted to get on to some brighter subjects in my life, so I thought I would share a great blessing.  I am an entreprenuer at heart, and I am always looking for "business" opportunities.  I wanted each of my older kids to start developing their business skills now, while they are young.  However, I also have seen time and again, my brilliant efforts fall flat before my eyes.  So I knew I needed to wait on the Lord to provide these opportunities.

One afternoon, our neighbor came by and dropped off several boxes.  She works at the grocery store here on base, and often brings outdated items.  This time she brought an entire case of plastic Pilsbury Doughboy picture frames and another case of Pilsbury measuring scoops - almost 100 of each.  At the time, I was thinking to myself, "WHAT are we going to do with a case of these things?!"  They were not something I would have wanted even 1 of, much less 100.  At first I was going to drop them off at Goodwill, but before I had a chance to, I checked Ebay.  Sure enough, there they were, being offered for $6, but with no sales.  I asked my son if he wanted to list them and see if he could get anything for them.  For the last couple of weeks, he has been selling them one by one, making at least $5 on each on.  I sure it will take him a while to sell all of them, but to a 10 year old boy, $10-15 a month is a pretty good income.  The best part is he can do most all of the work!

Great Idea!

WE have an ebay account too, and Amanda learned a lot about business when we bought a store about 5 years ago. She was basically my "Manager" and learned about everything from customer service and sales to paypal, refunds... everything. I think it is a wonderful learning experience (and the little extra cash is nice too!)
This is a great post, and Amanda has been wondering what to blog about. I think I will have her write up an article about her ebay experience.

And, I see you have a Huckabee icon on your sidebar... I was wondering what you know about him. Spunky posted a lot of revealing info about him on Home Where They Belong. I was surprised to hear some of the things about his 'record on homeschooling'.
