A rose

Finally decided what else to put in my front yard landscape. Roses. My husband just loves roses and we've only got one tiny tea rose in the backyard and a struggling fair bianca at the back door. Anyway, on one of our trips to the hardware store last week I found a very pretty and very fragrant rose bush called the Blushing Knock Out Rose (Rosa x 'Radyod' PP#14700). It is mounded with a height of 3 feet by 3 feet.  It's in a one-gallon container and is blooming like mad right now, as you can see.  I'm a little afraid to put it in the ground right now, so I've been feeding it and keeping it well watered.  I did get a rose book, which I really ought to peruse. I know for certain it's not a good idea to plant when it's blooming!  Oh I can just see the front of the house all filled with blooming roses and bringing their sweet fragrance up to dear hubby and I as we sit on the porch swing. Yes, I am silly.

I've seen the Knock Out roses at a local garden center and they are beautiful!! My favorite rose is Sweet Briar Rose -- it is said to also be Shakespeare's favorite rose! It blooms only once a summer but for that 2 week period it is absolutely covered with dainty pink roses. But, the best part of this rose is the smell! Even the foliage smells, so the bush releases a glorious fragrance even after the flowers are gone. It also has tons of rose hips for winter interest! Have a good day in the garden!

What a beautiful rose. My mother had a single-petal rose bush of similar color to this one when I was growing up. It bloomed all summer and was really lovely.

Enjoy your porch swing and the sweet fragrance of flowers.

Hi Lizzie Bee!

I have three different roses and love them! I hope to have a few more! The whole family enjoys them! We have some miniature heirloom roses and some hybrids that we have planted. One thing is for sure! They love broken up egg shells!
Enjoys the rest of your weekend!

You’re St. Melito of Sardis!

You have a great love of history and liturgy. You’re attached to the traditions of the ancients, yet you recognize that the old world — great as it was — is passing away. You are loyal to the customs of your family, though you do not hesitate to call family members to account for their sins.
