Alcohol
I was reading through a recent The Old Schoolhouse magazine and noticed some readers had been offended at Rebekah Pearl Anasts inclusion of alcohol in her sleep sweet tincture,
While I would not be a frequent user of any non food substance with my little ones I still wonder if they have the same problem with using vanilla in their cooking, also an extract by alcohol or if they would hesitate to give a sick child tylenol, another "drug".
I wonder also if they realize that by dropping the tincture into a little hot water the alcohol would dissolve, leaving behind only the good effects of the herbs.

Alcohol
Alcohol helps kill bacteria and keep the tinctures fresher ... so little alcohol is in a tincture that you'd probably have to drink 300 to get a high!
Exactly!

Hi Jennifer!
Yes I totally agree and I stated something like that in my response to those ladies. I too, wonder just how many chemical drugs are given to these people's children in lieu of what God has already given us in herbs and plants and real food. Natural tinctures have been a real God send in my family.
I miss you and have been praying for the Lord's direction for your family's ministry and for your children during this transition. Love to you all!

Hi Jennifer!
Welcome to Homestead Blogger!
One of my favorite books on raising children is "How to Raise Healthy Kids in Spite of Your Doctor" by Robert S. Mendelsohn M.D. He was a pediatrician for 30 years and a champion of natural healthcare. One of the things he recommended was a little whiskey rubbed on the gums of teething babies. Sometimes, alcohol truly has a medicinal value.
Blessings!
Lisa
I suppose it is a matter of personal preference......
but it does seem a few people overreacted. I felt bad for the dear lady who shared her tinctures and then was chastised by some for it. I cannot see the tiny amount you would get as a real worry. Check out what is in the cough syrup the DR gives you for your children. ^..^
