• Thursday, January 24, 2008 - Longing for Snow
| I wish we would get some wintery weather... other than just cold. I don't mind the cold when it comes with some snow, but having one without the other is just depressing. I know there are many of you who would disagree. Every time I mention snow, I get several, "oh not me"s and "I hate snow and ice". As much as I love Arkansas, and never want to leave, I do wish we had more snow. Or at least wish I could afford to travel someplace every winter to EXPERIENCE some real winter. I would have done well up north. I'd love to live in a cozy cabin in some snowy mountains. And I HATE summer and the heat so that only makes me long for more winter. If God ever calls us away from here, I hope it's someplace that gets more snow, or someplace tropical. (I can do without snow I guess if the ocean is nearby and I have a huge tropical garden to keep me occupied year round!)
I do love Spring though. As I am washing dishes, I keep finding myself gazing out at my little desolate garden plot, and imagining what it will look like in the months to come. I started setting my egg cartons, and yogurt cups aside so I can start some seeds next month. We are going to concentrate on peas this year. Snow peas, and Sugar Snaps. They are Simon's favorite. He eats them like popcorn. And I want to make sure I have plenty. I also want to try again on some different lettuces. Last year, those didn't make it, but I know what I did wrong, and hopefully will be able to fix that this time. I'll pant MORE herbs, or at least more of the ones I USE (such as Rosemary, Dill, and Chives) , and less of those I didn't. And of course I have to have tomatoes and peppers. I saw in a catalog that they have these little mini peppers that grow best in hanging pots, and I'm really excited about those! My garden is so small that I'm always looking for ways to go UP with it, instead out out!
Well, I better go get dressed to my shoes, and start my day! God Bless!! |

About Me
Here on the side of our little Arkansas mountain. Our family includes me, Allison, my husband Justin, my step daughters (14 yo twins) "Bert" and "Nic", our sons (6yo) "Si", and (3yo) "Roo". Next door are the in-laws Wendy and Dan. And between the two homes, we have 3 dogs and two gardens. We live next to a National Forrest so we see all sorts of wildlife. We love homeschooling, gardening, whole food cooking, quilting, crafting, and having bonfires!

I am so excited to get to gardening this year. But because of our move I am afraid that my soil for my garden won't be as good. Oh well teaches me patience...
Blessings
Kat
