One Day at a Time | |
Mom, what's For Supper? >it finally happened.........GREAT DAY! I worked out, emptied the dishwasher, got the boys ready adn we left. Unfortunately the mom who was to bring snack for MOMS did not show! That meant no bfast for me! We go straight from MOMS to skating so by 12:30 (it's over at 1), I was ready to gnaw my left arm off and could tell my blood sugar was being affected. So I looked down to see if my skate was untied and BAM! Down I went. Hard. My elbow hurts a bit, but I lived!LOL I wonder how badly my knees will hurt tomorrow cuz my elbows took the brunt, but my knees were next. And it knocked the wind out of me!LOL It's my first spill in the 2 years we've been doing this, so not much damage to my pride!ROTFL! From there I picked up the boy Pizza Hut (BookIts) and I went to McDs to get something to eat. Then to library. I sat. That was nice!LOL But the mom who reads to the older ones left cuz one of he dds was throwing up. So I read to them. Then to the grocery. Aldi has BRIE (which I LOVE!) and goat's cheese! 3 kinds and I got the cranberry cinnamon--YUMMY! I also got some belgian butter truffles. OMW! TDF!!!!!!! I got everything done at home and the chili is on. I may eat truffles for dinner instead......LOLBeautiful WednesdayThis morning I took Josie in for her DMA test. I talked with one of the teachers who proctored yesterday's test for Emily. Emily had to write an expository essay on an event that changed her life. This teacher was very impressed with Emily's essay. Emily wrote about how becoming a Christian has changed her life. She explained the way of salvation in her essay. This teacher I talked to was our teacher we reported to last year, and she is a true believer. I just pray the other teachers that have to read it will be witnessed to and not be turned off. All the DWA essays have to be read by 3 different teachers and then they are scored.Josh and Emily went with us. By the time Josie was done and we left Caldwell, it was almost time for Josh's doctor appointment. We went to the Clinic and they put Josh on some antibiotics. He has been using his nebulizer since Sunday, but just needs a little more help to get over this. When I went to the pharmacy, they gave me a bigger box of albuterol for the same price (copay) for his nebulizer. She didn't want us to run out of the albuterol. I have taco soup cooking for supper. I think I will just heat up some garlic bread to go with it and make a salad. We have someone coming at 5:00 to pick up something and then we need to head to Church for AWANA and Bible Study. The sun has been shinning today! It sure is nice to see. Daily Devotion 337

Attentiveness
That ye be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets. 2 Peter 3:2
When Henry Nelson of Wilmington, Delaware, arrived home one evening, he discovered that his apartment complex was being fumigated with hydrogen-cyanide. He removed the sign, tore down the barricade, and went in. Neighbors tried to warn him and called the authorities. But by the time help arrived, it was too late. Henry Nelson was dead.
Mount St. Helens in the Cascade Mountains of Washington state was dormant for several hundred years. However, a few years ago, authorities discovered that there was activity and reason to believe there might be a serious eruption. People were evacuated from the area. But Harry Truman, who had grown up on those beautiful slopes, refused to leave. When the eruption was over, Harry and his home were buried under tons of volcanic ash.
Both men disregarded both written and verbal warnings, and it cost them their lives. If they had learned to be attentive, they would not have died.
When we ignore the instructions of the written Word, we show the highest disregard for God. “My son, hear the instructions of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother. For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck” (Proverbs 1:8, 9).

Free Stocking Filler for my DaughterIn my attempts to create a homemade Christmas I went looking on the internet for ideas. Imagine how thrilled I was to discover these two websites with absolutely wonderful old-fashioned paper dolls! Paper Dolls do seem to be back in fashion here among the little girls of New Zealand at the moment. And I know my 7 year old daughter Meredith will get so much pleasure out of these. They are free to print. The first website is for Betsy and Barbara and their clothes. I'm sorry for the funny-coloured photo. I had to take the pictures clandestinely while my inquisitive daughter was hanging around.
And the following website was my favourite find. It is the Betsy McCall pages. I am especially thrilled with this. They follow Betsy from around 1950 through to the new millenium. Here is one of the first pages from the 1950's Betsy McCall.
They include little stories about Betsy and her family and her outings. Betsy goes to a wedding, Betsy goes on a picnic, Betsy goes to the Beach etc, etc and they all have the appropriate clothing. They're so cute! And I hope to combine all these into a bound little book (costs $4 at the stationary store to have done), and in a little plastic sleeve inside the cover put the Betsy and Barbara dolls from the first link. I can't wait for Meredith to open it up. I know she's going to love it! Thanksgiving and Black-eye Friday

01:13, Wednesday, December 3, 2008 .. Posted in Homestead life .. 0 comments .. Link We had a great trip to Arkansas to Sunshine and dads house. All the food and goodies have about caught up with us though and now it is back to healthier eating and some sense of sanity. We enjoyed lots of visiting and even snuck in an adventure at 4:30 a.m. to Black Friday sales at Wal-mart ( I have come to the conclusion that the meaning of Black Friday is a misnomer as I believe it is because you are at risk of a black eye at every corner!) I did get what I went after, one of them being this great bed set (the lighter color in the center was light shining through the window)
I have some cute photo's of the kids as Pianomanjess and Grand-doll Mom were there with the kiddos too. Little Miss and Grand-doll had adorable matching dresses: Now stick out your tongues and say "AHHHH".... And The Little had his suit on as well... And about 2 seconds later he started protesting this fact! We got a lovely blanket of snow on the ground on the day we were coming home and it continued about half the drive home too. Police Son flew out to San Diego to celebrate his recent passing of EVOC and his final approaching cleet test. Well, okayyy, he is not in SD celebrating that fact, he is really just partying it up with California Krista in the dessert somewhere, eating deep fried turkey and dreaming of the day they can be together in the same state for longer than a week. Ahhh, the harsh realities of distant love...
Last night we all had fun setting off Little Miss rocket. It was one we constructed from paper and a film canister for her overdue science experiment. It went off just fine and we had fun re-setting it off several times til we had the amounts just right for a good lift off. I went to take Little Misses picture with her rocket this morning but it was missing and we can assume the Big Marshmallow must have absconded with it. That darn Marshmallow... at present she is "guarding" a dead deer carcass (don't ya just love some of those deer hunters) Ughhh. On a happier note, well happier for Little Miss, Frontier Man is still working away at her tree house. She has great plans for it, all said with two words "Girls Only". Here is the progress made so far: Hey Frontier Man, watch yer head there, I would hate for you to get your head bonked ... and you fall to the ground... and might need some mouth to mouth resuscitation... and... sorry bout that, I was jes gettin carried away with myself...
Now where was I at? Oh yeah, Christmas is bearing down on us and as time would have it I am taking steps to get my craft projects all lined up. Here is one of the stockings I am working on ( in the cut-out phase) in a winter horse theme.
AHHHHHH.... it is the soap...soap...soap.... MONSTER?
Lastly, but not leastly, the lovely young Grand-doll Mom had a birthday this week and so I want to wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!
