Introducing myself!
I am Marie from NY where my husband and I have a small farm in a even smaller town where there are more cows that people! Two small stores in town and not even a stop light, just a caution light, a bank and a post office! But we love it, wouldn't trade it for anything.
My husband farms, he also is a logger during the winter months. I work part time as all of our children are grown and either off to college or have families of thier own now. I love to garden and always have a large vegetable garden, I also love to can lots of fruits and vegetables to put up for the winter months. I do alot of crocheting, quilting, sewing, embroidery, and reading. I would love to learn to bake bread, but every time I have tried, I have failed miserably at it, like trying to take a knife to a rock..lol!!! so if you have a great recipe, I would love to give it a try!
I look forward to meeting some new friends.
Marie

Hi Marie!
I look forward to hearing all about your farm. Your life sounds lovely! I'm actually on the Internet looking up a good bread recipe myself, lol. I used to bake it by hand, but then started using a bread machine. It's long since died, so I'm back into the baking business! If I find a good one, I will certainly pass it along! :o)

Your going to fit in perfectly here. I too live in a small town, or so I thought, LOL. Yours is much smaller than mine. I'm pretty sure the humans out number the animals here. lol
Welcome to the HSB.

I think you will enjoy it here. :)
I make my own bread, but I 'cheat' because I purposfully held out for a mixer that could knead for me - after several years my wait was rewarded with a Kitchen Aid, which had to be replaced with a commercial-style Kitchen Aid after I stressed the machine making pasta. It has a wonderfully detailed bread recipe with the mixer, complete with what temperature to heat the yeast. I have never had it fail unless I was trying to skimp on letting it rise or not baking it as long as necessary. :)

Welcome Marie - look forward to getting to know you. Sounds like you live in a wonderful place - peaceful! Hope you find a good bread recipe that works for you - I will send you the one I use if you want. I've been baking our bread for over a year now - no more store bought for us. It is a great feeling and the house smells so good when it bakes!

I enjoyed reading your posts... WELCOME!!!
I just started baking bread last winter. I do have a kitchen aid mixer that does the kneeding for me, but I could learn how to knead by hand.... it would be a great upper body work out!
Anyway, I am going to post a link to my blog that contains my favorite bread recipe..... Visit anytime!
