Daydreaming....

Oh how springtime makes me dreamy...  I've got new baby chicks peeping in a trough behind me, I've got freshly tilled ground out my back window just begging for taters and seeds to be nestled deep in the brown earth.  I've got hens a layin and roosters that crow.  The hyacinth are poking thru the ground with buds just emerging....

Then on the human side, I've got 8 anxious children.  Even the youngest, only 14mths old is anxious to get out into the yard.  He stands at the ready by the back door, just hoping for someone to leave it open long enough for him to toddle out into the wide world.

There is a row of bikes in the driveway and children asking constantly to be allowed to ride.

Home schooling??? how will that ever get done with the warm spring sun shining thru the windows calling us to come outside and play???

Oh that we were in the country already.  We have a nice spot here..just about an acre, enough for the chickens, the kids and the garden, but there is traffic....and people!   How nice it would be to let them go ride their bikes on dirt country roads with nearly no traffic.  How nice to let them run and play in wide open spaces.  How nice to have as large a garden as I could dream of and to have the space for a milk cow too?  Its almost too much to hope for...and yet I do.

Some day, some day my sweetie and I will have our place in the country!  Some day we'll walk barefoot in grassy yards and watch the evening sunset from our own front porch, complete with rocking chairs.

Springtime...such a time of renewed hope and dreaming of the good things that grow.

2006-Mar-3 - What a Blessing

Posted by smmagers

What a blessing you have, in your children, garden
and chickens. Here we are so wet from the rain! I can't wait to get my garden going. We live in the city
but we rent 3 acres of land 1 mile from us, i would love to be able to have our chidren to run at our home, but i am a worry wart. We do let them run on our farm. Enjoy,mj

2006-Mar-4 - Good to meet you

I am dreaming with you for the big farm you desire. We just moved to our 2 weeks ago and with only 5 children. We did make the sacrifice in building a small 2 bedroom home for now so we can start getting some animals soon. I am looking forward to getting my chicks:) Bless you and your precious 8!! What a blessing and spring brings so many natural homeschool activities.
