Thursday Thirteen - July 20, 2006

Thirteen things happening on my homestead today....

1. Today was co-op pickup day so the fridge is loaded with lots of great organic fruits and veggies.

2. The clouds are moving in, the sky is darkening and rain is in the forecast for the rest of the day.

3. Doctor's appointment for me this morning with some disappointing news.

4. My 2 beautiful guys are napping so I am enjoying a bit of peaceful silence.

5. The cat is curled up sweetly at the base of an enormous oak tree.

6. I'll be making a list in just a bit of the clothing items that ds1 is in need of (I had him try on everything in his closet earlier this week).  Our tax free shopping days start this Saturday so I am preparing myself before I hit the stores.  I'll go through ds2's clothes later today as well and make a list.

7. Ds1 has requested to watch The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe later today so that'll be in our dvd player.

8. The breeze is creating soft ripples across the pond.

9. One of the front window screens is half hanging down from the window (the cat decided to climb the screen the other night).

10. Library books litter the sofa and loveseat (offering opportunities to read about leopards, tigers, bobcats, healthy/organic eating, and folktales).

11. The three lazy bums (also known as the dogs) are snoozing peacefully on the living room floor.

12. Boxes of laminate flooring are still piled up in one corner of the living room waiting to be installed in the hallway, living room, dining room, and kitchen.

13. A sweet little towhead has just awoken and flashed me a smile that made my heart soar.

No, so I can't answer the rest of these questions. LOL!  I do want one though, but it's not a priority.  I do enjoy taking pictures with my regular camera, but don't take them as often as I used to.

Friday's Feast - May 26, 2006

What was your first job?

I worked in a small yogurt shop (the first where we lived) for one of my mom's friends.

Sea glass, sea beans, seashells (no specific ones, just ones that appeal to me), driftwood, stuff with dolphins

Name a recent fad that you just don't 'get'. 

Jeans with the cuffs turned up really high.

Main Course

Describe the worst weather situation you have ever been in  

We did not evacuate for Hurricane Jeanne so that was pretty darn frightening.  Ds1, our middle dog (the one most frightened by weather-related things), and I huddled in the bathroom while dh and the other two dogs huddled together in the hallway just outside the bathroom.  Being in a pitch dark house with all the doors and windows boarded up, no electricity, and listening to the deafening howling wind and who knows what slamming into the roof and house was quite scary.

Thursday's Threesome - May 25, 2006

What are your three favorite names for a horse?

* Blaze (ds1 and I love the Billy and Blaze books and when he gets a horse that's what he plans on naming it)

* Lightning (that's what ds1 has nicknamed a horse that resides at a house on our road a couple of miles north of us)

* Daisy (that's what I would name MY horse - ds1 tells me that's a cow name, but I think it sounds so bright and cheerful and would be perfect for a horse)

On a scale from 1- 10 with ten being the most active- how would you rank yourself.  Sadly, I'm about a 4 right now (was a 9 on vacation last week though!).  All the poisonous snakes have me very leary of going outside much.

Name Ten Things You Are Planning on Doing This Summer.

1. Read through the remainder of The Chronicles of Narnia with ds1 (we've read 2 books aloud so far).

2. Make a quilt for ds2 for Christmas.

3. Make a cross-stitch for ds1 for Christmas.

4. Beachcomb.

5. Work on more remodeling around the house.

6. Hopefully find a new church.

7. Organize my mounds and mounds of recipes.

8. Take some time to read something just for myself.

9. Research some field trip possibilities for next school year.

10. Enjoy laughing and playing with my family.
