I am so enjoying this gorgeous fall day. I have the windows open airying out the house, a pot of homemade beef and noodle soup on the stove and laundry drying on the line. I don't like to do laundry on Sundays however when there is extra or we get behind I have to to make sure that everything is ready to begin the new school and work weeks therefore I have to bend a few of my own rules. The boys all had their own agenda's this weekend which left my hubby and I alone. He works weekends however we have been able to spend lots of time together and go on a date and even went grocery shopping together and to the thrift store's shopping together. It was so nice. Everyone will be back home this evening and so will the chaos... no complaining though, I enjoy the boys lives immensely, most days... hahahaha I've still have peppers, tomatoes, and a few other things coming in from the garden. I need to go out again today and pick everything else that's ready and freeze or can it early this week. My freezers are pretty full already but I just hate to waste anything. I am heading to the village market in a little while to buy some local/organic eggs, honey, potatoes and etc. I didn't have a chance to pick these items up yesterday before the market closed and now I must do it today... another thing that I hate to do on Sundays that I must. Forgive me, Lord. Well, I have lots of little tasks that I must do today. Enjoy this incredible day! Blessings, Lena

My how the winds blew in Ohio on Sunday! The winds were an estimated 75-100 miles per hour. Our village is a very small farming community and if you are familiar with west central Ohio you know that we are actually considered a 'plains' area, meaning it is flat as can be. We lost power somewhere around 4:30 on Sunday and as of this morning thousands are still without. Our power was finally restored last night, and although it flickered and such, when I awoke this morning at 4:45 a.m. it was on without waiver. Thank you, Lord! I pray that our surrounding farming neighbors' power is restored quickly as well. I also pray for the safety of the electrical workers who are working non-stop and pouring in from other states to help us. The loss of the television, computer and etc. were of little importance to me. The weather has been perfectly balmy with good breezes and cool evenings. Simply perfect weather. Even the loss of the washer and dryer (I prefer line drying as much as possible anyway), didn't worry me, just the refrigerator and freezer as I had just went to the grocery on Saturday and both were well stocked. I could not have afforded to replace everything. Again... Thank you, Lord! The boys and I got Daddy off to work in the evenings and then relaxed on the porch and talked or chatted with neighbors and helped some with minor damage or cleanup. Everyone seemed to be grilling out and checking in with each other. Mind you, our village is always this way really... we do for each other, help each other, feed each other and so on already (which is one reason I am so thankful that we live where we do, it's like taking a small step back in time) but everyone seemed so relaxed and unhurried. I am so thankful for where we live and are raising our boys... Thank you, Lord. I love scouring the Bible for God's promises and reminders, so I thought I share the following verse: Matthew 7:25 NIV The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. Blessings, MaLena P.s. Please keep our neighbors to the south who were victims of Gustav and Ike in our prayers. Their loss and devastation is overwhelming.

I learned something new today! I know that if we listen with open ears and an open heart we can learn something new everyday, however the words of a fellow mother of three, resounded through my head (and my heart) today. I pondered her words for sometime this morning. This afternoon on my commute to a football field her words found their way into my heart again. Thank God for sisters in Christ, who without even realizing it, teach us and uplift us. Her comment or words of wisdom were an answer to the very thing I have been praying (and complaining) about for sometime: My reminder that God always hears and answers my prayers - and that sometimes the answer is simply 'No'. *************************************************************************************************************** I pulled out my 'fall' decorations yesterday. It was so enjoyable to put my silly little 'colorform' leaves and acorns and the like on my windows, to put my strands of leaves and the like across the porch and to enjoy the cool evening breeze that I allowed into my bedroom as I settled down for the evening. I am anxious to cut some cornstalks next weekend and make a couple of foddershocks for the front yard. My husband is gonna love that... something else to mow and weed eat around... hahaha I love fall! Football is well underway and I look forward to the games when I don't have to peel myself from the bleachers to root for the team. Go Panthers!!!!
