Our grist mill

Thanks to Coie Ig and my son Tyler I have learned how to put pictures on my blog.  Here is one of our grist mill.  As far as we can figure, it is over 100 years old.  It has been setting idle for about 60 years.  Our goal is to restore it and see that wheel run again.  We have tried to get some grant money, but so far nothing has been approved.  We started making soap about one year ago and we are using all proceeds from our soap sales to go in helping restore it.  We hope to have a store on HomeschoolBuy soon.

This is a drawing of the mill by artist Diane Brown, a friend of ours from Ohio.  She did the drawing from several pictures.  Maybe one day it will look this way.

What a beautiful mill! How wonderful that you are planning on restoring it! My dh remodels and would love to do something like this......I'll have to show him this photo.... we hope to one day rebuild an old barn made from old barnwood. Long term project. :)

Have fun on restoring the old mill!

Blessings,

That is a really, really gorgeous mill! It's so wonderful that you are going to restore it! I just love when people do that, and my husband thinks anyone who does is blessed with kind souls :o)

If you make soaps, do you have a listing on-line? I'd love to buy some to help out, and with Christmas coming it will be a nice stocking stuffer or friend's gift! So let me know! :o)

edit: silly me, you're working on getting some up on Homeschool, I feel blushed ! :oD

If you can give me information now to buy some soaps I would love to now. Let me know!

God bless,

I love it! I hope you put up more pictures in the future.
I also enjoyed hearing about your retreats. Hey, whenever you are ready to start working on the mill you could sponsor a father/son "Mill Restoration Retreat" and I bet folks would come and provide free labor while they were being ministered to at the same time! Something to think about.
