The Journey Towards Home - From Mess Maker to Home Maker

Being Quiet

I was driving home from yet another doctor appointment and the radio was of course on. I started thinking about how back in the 1800's, when you traveled from place to place not only did you not have the "convience" of a car, but there was a lot of SILENCE. Now we have so much noise to fill the silence. Almost as if there was something wrong with too much quiet.

Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE to hear my children. I love to hear them laugh and talk as they color. I love to hear them get excited and share their newest bug finding (see my homeschooling blog if you can help me find out what kind of bug they found). But there is something to be said about silence and learning to enjoy it. Not always having to talk, or have the TV or radio on to fill the silence.

Just some thoughts.
