Sorry I have been AWOL for so long.
To use a military term.My 19 year old son decided several months ago that he wanted to go serve his country. This was quite a shocker for us not to mention a lot of stress on a mama's heart. It shouldn't have really surprised us all that much. Our kids have been homeschooled all their lives and have been taught to love and respect God,family and country.Due to the fact he is homeschooled he had to jump through a lot of hoops and go through a lot of red tape to get in.I see now that the military is not very homeschool friendly, even though they see what good recruits the kids make.Anyway Bret had to score atleast a 50 on his test where as public school kids only had to get a 35,talk about discrimination. But he passed all his tests has a totally clean record as he's never smoked, drank, done drugs anything and so he is going to be a military police officer, which is no easy task to get into.He also passed a test,so he goes in with a stripe already. We are so proud of him. Congratulations Bret,we will miss you.

I've never cooked out of an Amish cookbook but I love to eat their food!!! The chickens and roosters are precious.

Tell your son I wish him much strength, and if there is anything I can say that I hope to see come from him(as a wife to a NCO in the ARMY) PLEASE PLEASE respect, listen and pay attention to your CO's and the NCO's you will be under once you are no longer just a "private" in boot and AIT... We have had so many young boys come into the service with no sense of respect for Authority and its risking other soldiers lives. I am sure you raised your son with manners, so I wish him the very best.

That is strange--I wonder why the difference--does not make any sense!! My son has taken the oath as an Army ROTC cadet. He has always wanted to be in the Army since a little tot. I have to trust that God put this desire in his heart. God calls different people to different tasks to serve Him, that is for sure. I have always had to be conscious of the need to hold my kids before God with an open hand.
