Fun Weekend! We ended up at the L.A. County Fair on saturday. It was a lot of fun. We went with the Grandparents. I really enjoy spending time with them. My dd sure enjoyed her self. When her feet started hurting, grandpa let her ride on the back of his wheelchair. It was so cute. She ended up falling asleep on him and almost pushed him off! She sure loves her papa. I haven't been to that fair in years and they really improved their animal section. There were a bunch of pregnant sheep and one was in labor. Nothing happened. We were there for a little while. Then I decided I really didn't spend 12 bucks to watch this. I have seen it before. It would have been nice for dd to see, but that is how it goes. The weather is so beautiful lately, that we have been going crazy. We want to be outside. Which tomorrow that is what we are going to do. School outside what a blessing! I found a place where they needed foster homes for potbelly pigs. I would love to do it, but hubby thinks I am crazy. Hey, I might be, but life is never boring here! I hope you all have a good day! <>< Tina Kay September, already?Boy, I just cannot believe it! Summer is practically gone. It is my least favorite season. But that means we need to start schooling, bringing out warmer clothes, and getting ready for the Holidays. Some of you do a whole lot more for preparation. This year will and is different for me. I am slowly movig toward a small homestead here. So next on my list is canning. Yeah!! I am excited about this one. I found a homecanning kit in the Lehman's catalog (I have been wanting that for awhile) I am collecting reciepes that sound good for that. All I need now is the kit. I have been cleaning out each bedroom this summer.(slowly) It has taken awhile, but it seems to be coming along. I am now in the junk/spare/computer/sewing room. This will be a chore. It is not a very big room at all. So you can imagine the chaos in there. This will be my task till I cannot buy the canning kit. I really would like to make some dresses for myself and Madie. She has been complaining that she has no dresses to wear and the ones at the store are too revealing. I just stood there wilth my mouth wide open and shook my head. That was coming from a 7 year old. I am very thrilled with my girl. Oh and good news..yesterday she asked for forgiveness of hers sins and asked Jesus to come live in her heart, (as she would put it) I was so delighted I called everyone I know. And know I am sharing with you. Just wonderful!! I hope all your plans for the fall are getting off to a good start. God Bless you all! <>< Tina Kay Mrs. Dunwoody's notes for Planning a Superior Day!1. Make a plan for your day. Otherwise you'll find youself making the fatal mistake of dealing primarily with problems rather than opportunities. ect... 2. Concentrate. I have observed that concentration is a key aspect of effective use of time. The amount of time spent on a chore seems not to matter as much as the amount of uninterrupted time. ect... 3. Learn to rest and catch your breath. To work for long periods of time without taking a break is not the most effective use of you time. In fact, when you labor too long without rest, your work suffers for it and you end up spending more time to complete your task. you, and you alone, know what a good amount of time is before a break. ect... 4. Don't procrastinate. It is the thief of time. ect... 5. Sift and sort. Dont't assume the most important matters will "float to the top" . You must sort through the clutter of the day and categorize. ect... 6. Strive for excellence, not perfection. Perfection does not exist. ect... 7. Never lose sight of the "big picture." Some things need only five minutes or so, tending to a day, while others may need five hours. But if you can try to maintain a perspective, and remember that people (especially childern) are always more important than things, you will do well in life. ect..
These are Excerpts from "Mrs. Dunwoody's Excellent Instructions for Homekeeping" By Miriam Lukken. I thought with the holiday coming up these notes could help. If you have the book I would recomend you read pages 19-22. This book is a fun book to read. I really enjoy it. There are a lot of helpful tips in it, too. If you do not have the book, I would recomed it. It really is a fun read. Gives you a look into that era. Which, I beleive, is the late 1800's. |
