time for decisions

Many years ago, eleven to be exact, I made the decision to homeschool my younger daughter.  She had many learning difficulties, was failing third grade and did much better at home.  She continued being taught at home until she graduated High school.  My son who was a preschooler at the time was homeschooled until third grade.  He begged us to let him try the school (we had moved to another county) and he has been there ever since.  Our teachers have been great for the most part.  My daughter in special ed first grade is doing well and she will still go to her self contained class.

I am really considering keeping 4 of my girls home next year.  They are ages 11, 9, 8 and 6.  One struggles a bit in reading but is making progress this year and I think she will catch up.  My 11 year old would be going to the middle school next year and there are problems there with drugs and the girls thinking they have to do anything to have a boyfriend.  My 11 year old is very naive, I refuse to let her go into that environment.  Even at our elementary school the girls are trashy mouthed, rude, and crude.  I want better for my girls, I want them to feel good about themselves and respect others.

My husband is not 100 percent about this but said if I wanted to try it with the girls, he was okay with it.
He is worried I will not be able to handle too many kids schooling at home

Don't know why, great day yesterday and went for a walk with the kids yesterday evening to tire them out.  I tossed and turned kind of sore all over.  Oh well got to get everyone ready for church this morning and dh is going to finish up working on our neighbors gate motors.

Spring is in the air

It was a warm day today, for February it was very warm.  I could get so spoiled to this weather.  We had a birthday party here for one of the grands.  Julianna is one year old today!  Everyone cooperated, nobody fought, and only a tiny meltdown from Chase!  Woo-hoo!

Steve tilled the garden and it looks great.  Can't wait to start planting even though I know it will be a while yet.  Oh well I can start planning in my mind what all we will have this year.  Some old favorites of course and maybe try some new stuff too.  I am hoping some of the fruit trees that we planted last year survived, we will see.

I will get new chicks in about a month, this year I think we will try some Barred Rocks, and Silver Wyandottes (sp?).  Still hoping and praying for a milk cow.  In the meantime I may go ahead and breed the goats.
