I think I am addicted to cookbooks!
I think I am getting addicted to cookbooks! I get all excited when I see a brown envelope in the mail box which has cookbooks inclosed....
Today I got two new ones:
More-with-Less by Doris Janzen Longacre
Soups & Muffins by Sue Gregg
I can't wait to look them over.
The funny thing is I am a terrible cook! I am 43 years old and never really learned how to cook. I have learned a lot from Crystal's website: http://www.thefamilyhomestead.com/ and have ordered her e-books which have been very helpful .
If you can give me any suggestion on cookbooks that you have enjoyed that you think I would like please post them - Thanks!
Have a great weekend
Donna

I love cookbooks. I have decided that my favorite type are ones that teach how to cook, as well as give recipes. I have a fabulous rice cookbook that spends the first chapter or two talking about rice, why one type is better for this or that, but you want this other type for something else. My sister has a book that is dictionary/encyclopedia/cookbook rolled into one - it defines cooking terms, such as fricasse, and then gives you a recipe. I "borrowed" it for over a year, but then she remembered I had it and wanted it back. I have not yet found my own copy, although I searched amazon, the web and the publisher. :(

I have More-with-Less and I love it. Another frugal favorite is Miserly Meals.
Years ago I bought a cook book by John Haddmuscin (spelling) called "Down Home" which I love. I don't know if it's still in print, but it has a lot of neat "regular" recipes.
If you have trouble with meal planning, there is a cookbook called "Saving Dinner" by Leanne Ely, which gives you a weeks dinner menu, the shopping list and all the recipes! Simple.
I think the internet is my most used resource. I can google anything and find recipes. Allrecipes.com is very helpful, too!
I am 41 and I just now feel like I am an adequate cook (I still have a lot of over or under cooked things LOL). So, never give up!
Happy Cooking,
Patti

I would love to have both of those cookbooks. I'm going to start going through our books and try to sell them so that I can get some new ones. Please post how you like Sue Gregg. I'd like to buy her series but want to be sure it's worth the money. Thanks.
Melissa
