It never ends.....

 What a day!

Have you had one of those days? Well, I had one today!

We decided to remove the carpet from our living room and replace it with floor tiles - I found one that looked like marble. My husband and daughter started this but the store did not have enough for us to finish the whole floor.

This prompted me to really rip through our living room and toss out things and find a place for everything. I had it looking pretty darn good, well on the way of being a pleasent place to sit again.

THEN I found a post on our freecycle yahoo group for a free couch. The couch we have in the living room is one of those couches that looks good but is all broken, We have a board under the cushions! The gal said to come get it and it was ours, We shot over today to get it. It was is excellent shape, it is a sleeper too. We got it home and we could not get it through the door! It is so heavy that my husband and son struggled with it, they had to get it up on the porch railing and then turn it up on it's side. While they moved it up to it's side they put a hole in it .   We had to move so many things out of the way that we made the living room a total mess AGAIN! They finally got it in the house and I hate it! I was so disappointed - It is a peach color with a valor texture. The couch clashes with the new floor tile and just looks terrible. I just had such high hopes of making my living room look pretty but now it looks so mismatched. My husband struggled with it so much he says we are keeping it - He is not taking it back out, Soooo I have to live with it . I know I shouldn't complain since we got it for free and it is in great shape but my great idea of brining this new couch in has now messed up the entire living room again and the room looks like a hurricane it.

Oh well, maybe I can find a slip cover or something....

Tomorrow I will start all over again trying to clean it all up again - It never ends!

I know those kind of days. I have an ugly couch and I found a great pottery barn slip cover on e-bay for $40. It was brand new and it costs over $150 in the catalog. I figured that was cheaper than the fabric to make one. I love the couch now. I made some pillows for it and it is better than new. (it was even ugly new!) Good luck cleaning up!

Sorry you had one of those days!!
We used to live in a stilt house...getting couches and such up those stairs was a real pain. Once they went in, they tended to stay due to the difficulty of getting them out again. After moving two sleeper couches...my hubby said no more!
I'll bet you can find a nice slip cover to make it suit your living room better.Since it's in great shape, that would be the route I would take...

I hate days like those. You have a plan in your mind & it doesnt just pan out like it is meant too! The joys of cleaning - ahhh! I hope you find a nice couch cover or throw rug & pillows...

could you do paint, throw pillows, accessorize in colors that blend the two (couch and floor tiles) so that it matches? just a thought. might end up nicer than a slip cover (I have never seen one that doesn't look like it covers an ugly couch). of course, a slip cover would keep the couch looking nice longer...
another thought: my mom's couches - that she has had since I was about 4 yrs old - were looking a bit worn about 7 years ago (gee, I wonder why - they were 20 yrs old) but still in good condition - and in 70's colors! So she read some books and re-upulstered them all by herself. they look like totally new couches, and they match EXACTLY the living room - carpet, curtains, other chairs. It looks like they had a professional designer come in.
