October 6th

Hi everyone.  Today we were supposed to go to Destin but last nite I hurt my ankle.  Dh was upset at me all day about this. That doesnt make sense to me.  Its not swollen, thank God.  Just hurts to bend it right now.

October 16th is our anniversary.  10 more days away.  We dont have anything planned for that day yet.  We will call Dh's daughter to wish her a happy birthday since it's the same day too.  I found out on October 18th will be the 80th birthday of my step Mom.  I know I want to be there with her this year but not sure if it will be for her birthday or Thanksgiving.  Really it depends on how I feel and if I can sit in a car for a 20 hour drive.  Approximately 10 hours a day.

I still miss my dog Misty.  I have a picture of her on my screen and every nite i close my computer and say good nite to her.  I miss her tale wagging and being with me all the time.

I'll close for now since today was a quiet day.  Hope everyone has a good nite.  Until later.  Byeeee  Jeanne

Outside my Window...Its dark and the stars are shining.

I am thinking...If I will be able to take a trip to Pa. this month.

I am thankful...My home and my dear husband, Ken.

From the Kitchen...We had hamburgers with fried rice and broccoli.

I am wearing...My jeans and light blue t shirt with sneakers.

I am reading...Psalms in the Bible.

I am hoping...We soon have rain since we haven't had any lately.

I am creating...A new quilt with pictures of our family.

I am hearing...The future vice presidents quarreling on ABC TV.

Around the House...Nothing special right now.

One of my favorite things...Searching the internet to learn  new crafts.

Plans for the rest of the week...Going to Destin Seafood Festival and Craft Shows in our town.

Sophie, 4 years old girl was diagnosed with cancer and needs your help

01:10, Thursday, October 2, 2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

Dionne from quiltvillechat.com sent a message to everyone about a young girl with brain tumor.  I wanted to post in here for everyone to see.

Hi Ladies,

I received some information about a very young girl who is suffering from an
acute form of cancer. The Stichin' Post Quilt shop is trying to raise money
for her treatment and is offering a 20% off coupon for anyone who donates
more than $5.

I don't want to fill up this board with non-quilty stuff, so... if you
would like anymore details please see my blog at:

http://sewmanyquilt s.blogspot. com/2008/ 10/cents- 4-sophie. html

This will take you directly to the post about Sophie and how to get the
coupon. Stichin' Heavenis a very nice shop with lots and lots available.

Thank you for taking the time to read this (and for not being mad at me for
posting non-quilting stuff)

Keep Quiltin'

September 30

Hi everyone. Tomorrow is October already and I finally have the newsletter done for that month.     I reminded everyone about our  26th Holiday Luminary's which will be the second weekend of December and included the safety for Christmas. Now I have to start November's. I can't believe Christmas is around the corner.  I didn't even do any shopping yet.

About 2 weeks ago two baby bears were spotted in our neighborhood eating out of a trash can. Nobody saw the mama bear and so far they haven't been seen again.

It's starting to warm up again here in Florida and had to turn our air conditioner back on again. At least it cools at night and early mornings here. I'll close for now. Hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful night.

Electricity Bills

08:08, Wednesday, September 24, 2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

Good evening everyone.  Out electric bill was about the same as last month and   I was hoping it would have gone down some anway.  For the last four days I started washing my dishes by hand and place them in the dishwasher to dry.   I try to keep the air condioner at 80 degrees but Dh says its too hot or humid for him.   Tonight we turned it off because outside it has cool down some.  We opened out windows to help out too.

My brothers job is not looking good at all.  He use to have 35 people working for him and now he has I think 4 left.  He told me last week he was able to pay himself $200.00 for that week.  We could tell last night that this is really getting to him.  He also told us he was backing out in a small shopping center and a young driver hit his back end of his car.  We're lucky to have our other brother who remodels cars.  He gives us a small break repairing our cars whenever something happens.

Fall in Florida

autm3f.gif - 7.5 K

I love fall. I love the crispness in the air, the autumn colors, the leaves changing, pumpkins, multicolored mums, scarecrow, corn stalks, hay rides, and bond fires.

I like the feel of quilts and comforters on the bed, flannel pj's and bunny slippers to protect your feet from the ice cold tile floors. I like the smell of hot chocolate, on a cold morning.

I love fall foods: Chilli, soups and stews, hot biscuits, hot grits with butter, hot oatmeat with rasins and walnuts, home made apple pie, turkey and dressings.

I love that the temperatures change gradually from hot to cool before it really gets cold for good.

I love that fall goes out in a blaze of glory before the long cold winter season begins.   To me I love both Spring and Autumn.

I found a great link with TONS of mixes for everything you can possibly think of!  This could be a nice project for the children to do in preparation for Christmas or a fine gift to give the hostess of your next holiday dinner.

Happy Birthday Dad!!!

I just wish you were here so I can

give you a big hug and thank you for being my Dad.

I have been hurting a lot lately.  Its hard for me to walk around in my home.  I see the doctor Tuesday, hoping she can help me.  It seems like I can't find any med's that can control pain.  Sometimes I think about doubling up on them, but they probably wouldn't help either.  I just feel like I'm going down hill.  I hate to say this but it's the truth.  Really, nobody knows how much I hurt. I just wish I could be myself again.

I'm trying to finish one of my quilts and have it ready for this winter.  I need to take one to Sheri and see if she will machine quilt if for me since it's  pretty big.

I found some old jewery of my real Mom's and Grandmother.  I'm not sure who wore what but I have one with the name Mary on it and thats my grandmother.  Wish I had some pictures.  I have a few of my mom when she and Dad were married.  for about 6 years.

Today is was so pretty outside, warm and hardly any humidity.  I'll post more later.  Cya then.  Jeanne

Good Evening Everyone....Last night I had a hard time getting to sleep.  I stayed up till 6 am and finally fell asleep till noon.  Now I feel horrible.  Have a headache.  Hope I sleep better tonight.

Tomorrow Dh has an appt. with his doctor.  I'm going to stay at home since his appt is the first in the morning.  Time for his cholesterol checkup.  He said he would show his hand but it really looks good.  Tomorrow I'm going to meet Sherri for lunch.

Pat called me tonight to see if I would help her setup the classwork and homework for the kindergarten.  She's having problems with one family this year.  Principal is going to send him to another room.  His family hasn't taught him anthing before school started. He didnt know any of his alphabet, numbers, colors or be able to print his first name.   He doesnt mind her at all.  She said the teachers at her school are all having that problems with student this year.  They are not aloud to correct them like they use to many years ago.

In four more days it will be my Dad's birthday but he's in heaven now.  He's the only  parent I had to grow up with and I thank him so much for all he has done.  Just wish he was here for me to tell him one more time and give a bid hug.

Outside the weather was a perfect day.  Hardly any humidity.  Until next time.

Hope everyone has a good nite.

Update on Dh's Hand and Dishcloth

12:50, Tuesday, September 16, 2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

Dh kept his hand in ice after the burn for a long time yesterday.   Towards the evening the pain has lifted a little and he decided to keep his hand in cold water.  Before he went to bed we put lotion on it and he wore a sock over it to keep it moist.  By this morning the sock was gone but he really looked a lot better.  Today the emblem from the Pressure washer is still there but the redness is almost gone but its starting to look pretty dry now.  He said there are two areas that hurt the most.  We're glad he has an appt. this week with the doctor.

Today I finished knitting a wash cloth and wanted to share how it looks.  I like the colors for Christmas.

I'll post more later.  Hope everyone has a good nite.  Jeanne

My Dh hand is burnt really bad.  He was using a pressure washer earlier this morning and turned it off for about a half hour.  When he went back to turn it on he put his left hand on a very hot area when he tried to turn it on.  He now has the emblem of the machine on his hand.  All day we kept it on ice and cold water.  He said now it feels really dry.  Tonight he put hand cream on it and a sock over it to keep his hand moist.  I hope by tomorrow it looks better or we will call the Doctor.

Tonight I feel like i'm running a fever.  There is something going around here and I have a few neighbors not feeling good and last week Dh was ill from it.  I hope I'm not coming down with it.

I started our new neighborhood newsletter and finished the secretary's report from my other club finally.  I'm going to leave since I"m not feeling very good.  Until next time.  Byebyeeeeee   Jeanne

Prices and the Hurricane

11:51, Thursday, September 11, 2008 .. 2 comments .. Link

Hi everyone.  Dh and I went food shopping.  I was watching the cashier as she was totaling our score and wondering if anything would be under a dollar.  Guess what, I saw four items.  green beans, onion, cucumber and 3 bananas.  At that time i was thinking in appx. 1965-67, not sure exact year but close,  I bought my mom salt for 10 cents.  I remember her sending me to the store and she needed it while she was cooking.

I noticed the meat prices have gone up again too.  I was also talking to some friends on the internet about gasoline.  Here we're paying 3.55.  In ohio they were paying i think it was 3.75.  At one time their prices were lower then ours.  I think the cheapest we paid here with in the last month was 3.50 and this was not in our county.  We drove about 20 miles from our home to check out some stones to make a waterfall.  We filled our tank while there.  lol

Hurricane is still in the Gulf we had big waves here.  We have a highway from Fort Walton Beach to Destin that is now under water.  It takes us about 15 minutes to drive there but not any more.  Have to go a different direction now and it will take at least 45 minutes depending on the traffic.  We had this problem before with another hurricane.  The road was built back and they didnt think this was going to happen again,  We'll watch the news tomorrow to see what happened.  Its closed now.  I feel sorry for Texas.  Hurricane looks soooo big.  I'll talk to you all later.  Till then byeeeeeeee.  Jeanne

Our Neighborhood

11:55, Sunday, September 7, 2008 .. 1 comments .. Link

I really like our neighborhood.  Their is one main exit in and two small exits out.  Once in awhile you may hear sirens, but not that often.  Our town is not as big as a city, and I'm so thanksful for that.  There isn't any ground here to buy because a lof ot it belongs to the military.  I just came in from watering my bushes and flowers and its now midnight.  I dont hear any cars and can hear the birds and other creatures outside.  It's sounds so relaxing.  Large trucks are not aloud to enter except for moving.  Its really safe for children to play outside too.

Last night I was not able to sleep at all.  Dh woke up at 4:30 and we decided to have an early breakfast in town.  Their prices are really not that bad either.  I think we have two restaurants that are open 24 hours a day.  We came home around 5:30 and I watched tv and finally fell asleep.  Hopefully tonight I will sleep a lot better.

I worked outside pulling weeds out back and  I  helped Dh mow our lawn.  We  have a riding lawn mower and  he did the front yard and I did the back which is a lot bigger.  Well,  I'm going to bed.  Night Night all.  Until next time.  Cya later.  Jeanne

Pond

03:11, Saturday, September 6, 2008 .. 2 comments .. Link

Dh and I have been interested in building ponds.  We had one before with koi and gold fiish until the hurricane destroyed it.  My koi was about 7 or 8 inches long and the gold fish were about 3 or 4 inches.  We have a neighbor two streets down that has a pond, too.  I like how they have their's set up.  Its on top of the lawn.  Ours was about 5 feet under.  That was hard to clean.  I dont think this time I will have fish since it will be above ground.  I really did enjoy them.   It gets pretty cold here in the winter to have one above ground.  I could use a heater.   Here's a pic of the fish.  We called the koi packman.  lol  I really enjoy to hear the flow of the water.

September 4th

09:52, Thursday, September 4, 2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

Hi everyone,  I woke up today to a sick dh.  He's been running a fever almost all day.  He told me after he ate breakfast it started.  He thinks it was the banana he added to his cereal.  Around lunch time I made him 2 cups of broth and gave him crackers.  He has problems with his sugar and he was feeling shakey.  He took his sugar and it was 95.  We're not sure why that was happening.  Does anyone else have this problem sometimes?

After lunch I went to run off the 400 newsletters and stopped by AC Moore.  I bought beige yarn with dark red and dark green color.  I plan to knit some dishcloths.  I'll post a pic later when I'm done with the first one.  I really like what I see.

I was supposed to go to a MADD meeting but decided to stay home with dh.  I worry that his sugar could go low when he's ill.  He went to bed early tonight.

I plan to knit more tonight and then see what I can do with my quilting.  I want to make a picture quilt but I"m not sure what color of fabric s I want to use.  As of now I'm watching McCain on tv.

I'll post more tomorrow.  Hopefully I'll have my first dishcloth done.  Cya then.  Jeanne

Busy Day

07:47, Wednesday, September 3, 2008 .. 0 comments .. Link

Hi everyone, Our neighborhood has a garden club and this Monday. We meet for the first time since our last meeting in May.   I type a newsletter for every home.  I finished it today and the president  agreeded with everything and tomorrow I have it run off for 400 homes.  I'm glad thats done and now I start the layour for our next months newsletter.

Today  Agnes and I drove around our neighborhood to pick which home will win the "Yard of the Month."   Our Garden club decided to divide our neighborhood into two sections.    My neighbor across the street does a lot of work in his yard and we decided to give him the award.  He has a sign in his front lawn for a month.  We took pictures and I need to have an award signed by our president and hand it to their family.

I also went to another meeting where I'm the Secretary today.  This meeting will be next Tuesday.  The board gets together to decide what we need to talk about at our first meeting.  I told them today that I am going to step down because of the problems I have with walking.  Hopefully this month a doctor will be able to help me.  We'll see and I will post the information about that later.

Tonight for dinner we had grilled chicken with salad and vegetables.  Tomorrow nite we plan on having ham with scalloped potatoes.

I hope everyone has a good nite.  Talk to everyone else tomorrow.  Jeanne
