I have been thinking again......

Well, not much going on here today. I do have some laundry that needs done, but who doesn't? There is a little bit of house work that needs to be finished around here. And there is always school work on the list for this time of year.
Now, what would I like to be doing for my day? I would love to be quilting, baking and even getting started on my candle making for gifts this year. I am trying to think of something else to place in the baskets that I am planning on giving to my sisters for Christmas. I was looking last night at a catalog and I found the sweetest recipe book that is for you to fill in the "family recipes". I plan on placing that in the baskets for sure a long with the candles. Now for something else..............Maybe I might order some home-made soap from someone here on line........
It seems as the days go by, our money is getting smaller and smaller. We have already cut back my budget for the grocery/household shopping each payday. I am willing to turn off the satellite dish if only my husband could get an antenna for the TV. I so wish we had not gotten in with these cell phones but we are under contract and it would cost so, so much to turn them off now. We have the family plan with 4 phones on it. My girls pay for their part so that helps.
What are you guys doing to help make ends meet? I could use some more ideas to think about. I sat last night making out the list of who we need to buy gifts for this year at Christmas. I know that we do not "Have" to buy for them, but we like to give at this time of year. I have not even though about our own family here in the house. The girls are always happy with whatever, they do not expect much. They just enjoy giving to their family members.
My husband will be getting a small bonus check at the end of the month. He wants me to use that to stock up for around the home and kitchen. I have been thinking about it and making plans but I also keep thinking maybe we should use it for the gift shopping. I know that husband is the one to say what it is used for, so I will just give him time to pray about it while we are waiting for it to get here.
If I am going to use it for the stocking up, I could also use some help, thinking about what to stock on. I am thinking about the "big" items that seem to take so much out of my budget each payday. Such items like:
bags of dog food
paper products
personal items (there are 3 of us girls in the house)
can goods
grain and /or flours
sugar
beans
meats
cleaning items
Things like that. I know I might be leaving something important out, so feel free to let me know if you think of something.
Well, the time is ticking away and I have a lot to get done around here.

Supper tonight will be: pork loin chops, rice and veggies !!
Have a good day at your home !

Almost the End of the Week..........

Yes, today needs to be "Wash-Day" but I am not sure if that will happen. I just need to be in the mood.... Does that sound good enough just in case I don't get to the laundry?
I have been thinking about winter coming, prices going up on food, gas and utilities. I have been listening to some of the news about all of the money problems with the big people. I am just not sure where I am on all of this. I mean, I could sit and listen to every news report about what the goverment is going to do or not going to do............I could worry about rather or not they are going to make the right choice................But I chose to just trust God !!! He loves me and my family and only wants good for our lives. We have not done without so far.......we have not gone without food......we have not had our lights turned off..........we have always had a/c and heat..............
So I chose to trust God !!! That is my vote !!!
Now don't get me wrong. I am going to continue to do what I can to save money and energy. I am making plans to stock up on what I can for household items and food. But I am not going to worry about it. I am not going to go "crazy" if I don't get to buy things every time I go shopping. I will let the Lord lead me in even this part of my life.
What are you doing to get ready for the winter? I see a lot of people asking this question right now and I love to read others ideas. Sometimes I take an idea from others and add it on to my list. It is good for us to share with each other and you never know when some one else might be reading your answer or mine and it helps them to get started at their place.
My husband has a small bonus check coming at the end of this month. He says he is giving it to me for nothing but stocking up. I will start making my list, but I also know to wait until he knows that is what God wants us to do with the money. Sometimes our ways are not His ways and He may not want me to stock up. The Lord may want me to trust Him even in this. I must admit I love it when we have no choose but to wait on God and watch Him work in our lives. Even with things like food and household items. I love to watch God work and show His glory in all things.
I am also saving my small pay checks I earn here working on-line ( 2 small jobs) for Christmas shopping. I will be able to handle to the gifts for all of the family members on both sides that we buy for and my husband will have the money to give me for gifts for us here at home. I will also handle the "extra' shopping items for all of the baking and candy making I love to do during the holidays.
Yep.......it only takes a little bit of planning and everything turns out okay. Just like in meal planning. Some do not want to take the time to plan out a menu, make a list of what items they have on hand in the pantry or freezer. Some do not like making out a shopping list before going to the store. I know, I have been there too. But now, I feel lost and out of control if I try to go shopping without a "game plan".
Well that is enough about my life here. I have things to do and work that needs done. Leave me a link if you have already posted about what you are doing at your place to get ready for the winter. I would love to read it.

Tuesday Morning here in West Tennessee........

I am dreaming of Fall !! It does not look like this yet, here at my place but it will soon !! This picture is from last year. This is an old barn at our place that my husband has been working on. There is more done by now and in a couple of weeks, there will be a "barn party" at here to get it finished up. We have some families coming from our church to help out. The men will be working, the children running around playing and all of us women, visiting, cooking and taking care of our men, lol .....
I will post updated pictures as I get them.
What is going on at your place for the fall? Any special plans as of yet? We will be having a family gathering this month with my husbands family and at the end of the month/first of Nov, we will be having our big Harvest night" with our church. You know, the bon-fire, hot dogs, hay rides.........We do this every year and we have so much fun. Let's just hope that our pastor won't get the truck and hay wagon stuck in the field again this year, lol.......It was really dark out there...........
Today is school work, some work with my job here on-line, a visit with grandpa this afternoon, grocery shopping, and then a visit with a friend tonight while our husbands are at men's prayer meeting.
I hope to have my menu for the week posted by tonight and maybe a recipe or two if I have the time.

Have a good day at your home !!

Saturday at my place.........

Oh, it's almost Fall !! There is a coolness in the air and I just can not wait !! The other sign of fall is that I can not quit sneezing, lol !! My lung doctor says this time of year is worst on me then Spring. I give up, there is no good season for me. But I will not let it get me down. I love this time of year and I have so much I love to do. I will just keep going, with my kleenex right next to me, lol ...

I have not done much around the house today. I started the cleaning yesterday and my 3 daughters finished it up for me this morning. Everything is clean but there is still laundry to be done. Always !!
I have a crock-pot of Taco Soup on for supper tonight and I am cooking a small whole chicken so that I can make chicken & rice for fellowship lunch tomorrow after church services. Thursday I made what we call, "Grandma's apple cake" and it is almost gone. It is the time for me to get in the kitchen and bake. Once the temps start going down, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. It is my time to relax and ponder..............

My girls are at Walmart getting a few things for themselves and they called me to see if I wanted a new table cloth in fall colors. They knew I was wanting one, I just was going to wait till the end of the week. Then they told me there was a table runner that would look great with the table cloth. I am so grateful that my girls have a giving heart for things like this. They are always spending some of their money on others. This time it happens to be for me.
Well, the house is smelling good and I still need to mix up a batch of mexican cornbread to go with the soup. Everyone have a good day at your place and come back to visit real soon.
