FRIED GREEN TOMATOES

3 med green tomatoes
1/4 c cornmeal
1/4 c Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp all purpose flour
3/4 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/8 tsp pepper
1 egg, beaten
1/4 c veg. oil
Salt
Slice the tomatoes 1/4 in thick. Lightly sprinkle tomatoes with salt. Drain on paper towels for 30 to 60 minutes. Meanwhile, combine cornmeal, Parmesan cheese, flour, garlic salt oregano and pepper in a shallow plate or dish. Dip each tomato slice into the egg, then the cornmeal mixture. In a medium skillet, heat oil over medium high. Fry tomatoes a few at a time for 2 minutes per side or until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel and serve immediately.

Old Fashioned Lemonade
6 lemons
1 1/2 c sugar
2 1/2 qts. ice water
Wash lemons; slice thin. Place in a stainless or enamel flat container. Add sugar. Pound with mallet to squeeze juice from lemon rings. Stir to make syrup. Let stand 20 minutes. Add water to pitcher after putting in beaten lemons. Stir well. Serve within 6 hours.

Oohh....I am so glad you posted this recipe. We have lots of green tomatoes on the plants right now. I tried to make them one time before but they didn't turn out too well. I think the parmesan cheese will probably make it much better!

I can't believe you have Fried Green Tomatoes on your site......my daughter in law just said she wanted to make some. I won't eat any of them though. Never have liked the things! Nice picture.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. It was great to see a comment so fast! Your blog is beautiful. I just love everything about it! Maybe you can give me some tips about mine. The recipes look great. I love fried green tomatos and lemonade. I think I may try the lemonade recipe tommorrow. The green tomatos may take a little longer to aquire :)
