Life in a Shoe - If Momma ain't happy...

Life in a Shoe

• Thursday, June 15, 2006 - If Momma ain't happy...

Ain't no one happy. I have discovered just how true this is!

I have struggled with depression since November last year and have watched my home and family slowly deteriorate. The children especially reflect my attitude right back at me. They are completely out of sorts which of course makes me grumpier.

As the mom, I set the tone for the household. How I feel influences how my children behave and my husband's attitude. This has never been more clear to me than it is now.

Thanks to Jesus, my awesome husband, my wonderful mother, and Flylady there is light at the end of the tunnel for me and I have seen a change in only four days! My days have been more productive, I feel calm and happy again, and best of all my husband and children are happy again!

I got my powers back!

I developed severe depression after my daughter was born and after a very rough three years and a lot of medication and counselling finally came through the other side. Thankfully after my son was born things were a lot easier although I still would suffer from depressive periods. I agree... the kids pick up and feed off the bad moods which is quite worrying. However, God is always by our side and even when we feel we are in our darkest hour He NEVER lets go of our hand. He sustains us and carries us through, providing the light at the end of that tunnel!
