If I came across harsh or judgemental in my post yesterday, I didn't mean to. I was simply posting my thoughts regarding where God has me in my walk right now. I know we are all in different places in our walks and God has to be the one to lead us where He wants us to go. Right now, He is having me examine my life and think about whether I am truly living for Him or living for myself. I must say though, that I am amazed at all of the people that claim to be born again and believe in Jesus Christ, yet they aren't living that way. They don't seem to even care to read God's word to see how he says we are to live. They think that if they aren't committing any major sins, then they are okay. Is that enough? I'm not talking about "enough" to get into Heaven, that is another thing altogether. I am talking about is that "enough" if you profess to be a Christian? Are we not supposed to strive to live as God did? Isn't He to be our example? Doesn't the Bible teach that our bodies are not our own? Doesn't it tell us that we are to be set apart from this world, that we are to be light in this world? How is the world going to know Christ if we, as believers, aren't any different than the world around us? Again, I am not saying any of this to anyone directly, not am I accusing any of you of anything - I am simply seeking God's will in my life and these are questions that I have. Questions I ask myself. Feel free to leave your thoughts, as long as you aren't judging me or accusing me of anything

I have been pondering this for awhile, what it really means and the complexity of it. I strive to follow God in all things, I have a strong desire to, yet, it doesn't always happen. I know we are sinful man and there is not one perfect, no not one. I know we live in a fallen world and there are so many people around us that don't even know God, let alone follow Him. I am not saying I have to be perfect, I can't be. What I am talking about is trying to follow Him, trying to follow His word in all I do. Isn't that to be my goal as a born again child of God? Shouldn't my desire be to please Him in EVERYTHING I do? I have been meditating on one scripture in particular this morning (although there are many that pertain to this area): "Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." Galatians 5:16 There are so many people around me that claim to be Christians, claim to know the Lord and to follow Him, yet they don't. I am not judging, I am speaking truth as to what I see. They don't follow His word or they pick and choose which parts they will follow. 2 Timothy 3:16,17 says, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." That is ALL scripture, not just want sounds good to you or me. I don't want to debate this topic, I don't want to argue. I am simply posting my thoughts on the matter and would love to hear from those that share my view on this.
Here are some of my views, so you know where I stand. Jesus is the Son of God, raised again on the third day and He will return one day. The only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. I believe in the trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. I believe that if I am to believe in any part of the Bible, I must believe in the entire Bible. Therefore, as I child of God, I should follow the Bible as my instruction on how God would have me to live my life. Some other things I believe: These are just some of the things I believe. If you are like minded and have a blog, will you comment and leave me a link so I can visit your blog? I look forward to reading posts from others that might encourage me in my walk and I hope to do the same for some of you. Blessings, |

There has been alot of discussion around here lately about judging others that do not have the same convictions as you do and I felt a need to say something. Here is a scripture about judging others: Matthew 7: 1-5 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
We are called to exhort our brethren but not to judge them.
Hebrews 3:13 “Beware brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”
Here are a few about giving instruction to those that choose not to recieve it, and we all know there are some of those here at HSB.
Titus 3:9-11, “But avoid all foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions and strivings about the law: for they are unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.” Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 9:7, 8 “He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself, And he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself. Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.” Proverbs 12:1 “Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid.” Here are a few about our speech and what the word says about disputing, which unfortunately is what some have been doing.
Ephesians 5:29 “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” Philippians James 5:9 “Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door.”
Romans 1 Corinthians Philippians 2:4 “Let each of you look out not for his own interests, but for the interests of others.”
Yes, I am free to wear jeans but that does not make it helpful or edifying for my brothers. Yes, my brothers are ultimately responsible for their own thoughts and actions, but as the scripture states, I am to do all I can not to cause them to stumble. I believe that showing my cleavage or my curves is very much a stumbling block to most men, so I choose not to. I am not to be concerned about what I am free to do, I am to be thinking about others well being, not my own liberties.
I think we all need to remember that we are to love one another and I don't feel that tearing each other down and disputing back and forth shows much love. I also feel that our main concern be with other's salvation and knowing the Lord. As for those that are not of the same faith as us (Christian), we should be concerned with showing them the truth of the Word. Their dress is a peripheral matter but the real concern is showing them the Word of God.

I have decided that today we are setting aside all of your regular school and most of daily routine. I will continue with laundry and keeping up with dishes but that is it. Our day is going to be devoted to God. We are going to the library first this morning and the kids will have instruction they are only allowed to get movies or books that are related to God. We have "David and Goliath" and "Facing the Giants" from last week at the library and I think I will check those out again too. My plan is that our day will consist of listening to Christian music (mine and their kid's tapes), the movies I mentioned, reading the Bible, reading Bible stories, reading some of the book "Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends" and of course prayer. I am sure we will do some coloring of Bible stories and maybe something else craft related, I don't know yet. I just know that I want this entire day focused on God. I will try to post this evening or in the morning to let you know what all we did and how are day went. Have a wonderful and blessed day! Rashel |

I have been wanting to start a Bible study group for women that are like minded in things such as modesty, submission and keepers of the home but there aren't many in my church that would fall into that category with me right now, sad isn't it. So, I decided to start an online group of sorts. I started a new blog and it's sole purpose is for searching God's word to us as women and finding out how to live it practically in our lives. I hope to have women join me in my walk drawing closer to the Lord. I want us to be able to encourage each other, to teach each other and have to place to share with those that share the same convictions. I don't know just yet how often I will post or if I will post on certain topics at a time or certain scripture or just what exactly. I just opened the blog today so it is all new but I hope you will stop by if you are interested in joining me in walking closer to God. The blog is called A Woman's Walk With God and please let me know if you stop by. Blessings, Rashel |
