I'm a SAHM of a 2 year old. I don't homeschool, but this is how I do the cleaning and still have lots of time to spend with our little one:
I wrote down each room in the house, and then made a list of everything that needed to be done in that particular room weekly. Then I wrote down how many loads of laundry we do every week.
Each day, I do the daily things (make the bed, start laundry, dinner prep such as putting dinner in the crockpot or chopping vegetables ahead of time, and unload or load the dishwasher), in the morning and then follow my weekly plan for housekeeping. I clean 2 rooms every day. I started timing myself on the jobs, and most days I can clean both rooms from top to bottom within 1 hour!!! (wiping surfaces, windexing, dusting, tidying, vacuuming, etc)
So, for me, I set a time in my daily schedule to clean for one hour in those 2 rooms, and Noah loves to help and I feel I am teaching him cleaning and organizing skills early. He knows more about where things go in this house than hubby does now! LOL Throughout the day I have to remember to switch laundry, check on the crockpot if dinner is in there, etc. but mostly, I am done within that one hour. Another thing that helps with this is Hot Spot cleanings every evening after Noah goes to bed. I have certain areas that seem to get cluttered on a daily basis such as the table beside my chair (drink glass or books I have been looking at), and the dinng room table (hubby's stuff he brings home from work, etc). Also, Noah must pick up his toys, with my help each night before going to bed. This way the house is tidy before going to bed, and that is just a few less things I have to do the next morning.
I still have lots of time even with meal preps and eating, and naps to spend quality time with Noah, and hubby appreciates coming home to a nicely kept home. He thinks it must take me ALL DAY to do everything, and I am not about to burst his bubble on this one! LOL
God's Blessings,
Amy Jo
***Thank you Amy Jo for letting me know how you do it. I really enjoy hearing how others keep up with things. It sounds like you have a great system down.
Blessings,
