Just getting things done

Posted in The Making of My Home

That's what I have been doing today, just trying to get things done around the house.  I won't bore you with the list today, it is just normal stuff.  I do plan to start making some curtains after I get the dishes done up from lunch and the kitchen and bathroom floors swept and mopped.  Actually, I plan to have the boys do the dishes and girlie wants to mop for me after I sweep ;)  I am hoping to get at least one curtain finished before dh gets home.  I started crocheting a scarf last night, it sure does feel good to make useful things with your own hands - at least to me it does anyway.  Better get busy if I intend to get a curtain done.

Oh yeah, I did set out some fall decorations today in the house and on the porch.  We brought a couple bales of hay to the porch out of the barn and my ds cut one of his pumpkins and brought it up to the porch as well.  I just love seeing the fruits of my childrens work, they planted their own garden this year and have really enjoyed it: tomatoes, corn, cantaloupe and pumpkins.

Blessings,

Rashel

Whew, it's been awhile

I know it has been quite awhile since I have posted, but I have a good excuse.  My computer crashed!  So irritating but it is working now, kind of.  It will still suddenly shut down whatever you are working on sometimes, but at least it works the other times.  So, I just wanted to say hello to anyone reading and say it is glad to be back online.  Not too long after we got the computer fixed, we went on vacation which kept me offline a little longer too.  But, vacation was WONDERFUL!  We had a truly blessed time and I am feeling refreshed and renewed now.  We all really needed the break.  Praise God we didn't have any trouble and we had a great time.  I don't have long to stay on here, lots to catch up on after being gone.  We got back late Tuesday evening and yesterday was spent with errands and getting groceries.  I have been working on getting things put away, doing laundry and dishes, made laundry soap and now I am making bread.  So, better get going again.

Have a wonderful day and Lord willing, I won't be gone so long until my next post.

I didn't mean to sound harsh yesterday

Posted in Scripture

If I came across harsh or judgemental in my post yesterday, I didn't mean to.  I was simply posting my thoughts regarding where God has me in my walk right now.  I know we are all in different places in our walks and God has to be the one to lead us where He wants us to go.  Right now, He is having me examine my life and think about whether I am truly living for Him or living for myself.

I must say though, that I am amazed at all of the people that claim to be born again and believe in Jesus Christ, yet they aren't living that way.  They don't seem to even care to read God's word to see how he says we are to live.  They think that if they aren't committing any major sins, then they are okay.  Is that enough?  I'm not talking about "enough" to get into Heaven, that is another thing altogether.  I am talking about is that "enough" if you profess to be a Christian? Are we not supposed to strive to live as God did?  Isn't He to be our example? Doesn't the Bible teach that our bodies are not our own?  Doesn't it tell us that we are to be set apart from this world, that we are to be light in this world?  How is the world going to know Christ if we, as believers, aren't any different than the world around us?  Again, I am not saying any of this to anyone directly, not am I accusing any of you of anything - I am simply seeking God's will in my life and these are questions that I have.  Questions I ask myself.

Feel free to leave your thoughts, as long as you aren't judging me or accusing me of anything

Blessings,

Rashel

Do you follow God completely in all things?

Posted in Scripture

I have been pondering this for awhile, what it really means and the complexity of it.  I strive to follow God in all things, I have a strong desire to, yet, it doesn't always happen.  I know we are sinful man and there is not one perfect, no not one.  I know we live in a fallen world and there are so many people around us that don't even know God, let alone follow Him.  I am not saying I have to be perfect, I can't be.  What I am talking about is trying to follow Him, trying to follow His word in all I do.  Isn't that to be my goal as a born again child of God?  Shouldn't my desire be to please Him in EVERYTHING I do?  I have been meditating on one scripture in particular this morning (although there are many that pertain to this area): "Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." Galatians 5:16  There are so many people around me that claim to be Christians, claim to know the Lord and to follow Him, yet they don't.  I am not judging, I am speaking truth as to what I see.  They don't follow His word or they pick and choose which parts they will follow.  2 Timothy 3:16,17 says, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."  That is ALL scripture, not just want sounds good to you or me.  I don't want to debate this topic, I don't want to argue.  I am simply posting my thoughts on the matter and would love to hear from those that share my view on this.

Here are some of my views, so you know where I stand.

Jesus is the Son of God, raised again on the third day and He will return one day.  The only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. I believe in the trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God.  I believe that if I am to believe in any part of the Bible, I must believe in the entire Bible.  Therefore, as I child of God, I should follow the Bible as my instruction on how God would have me to live my life.

Some other things I believe:
God would have me to homeschool my children
Women are commanded to dress modestly
Women are commanded to submit to their husbands
Women are to be keepers of the home
Children are a blessing from God
Children are to obey their parents
Parents are to discipline and train up their children according to scripture
We are to be set apart from the world, not taking part in the things of the world
We are to have fellowship with like minded brothers and sisters in Christ
As a Christian, I am to encourage others in their walk with Christ and to restore them lovingly when they trespass or backslide (Galatians 6:1)

These are just some of the things I believe.  If you are like minded and have a blog, will you comment and leave me a link so I can visit your blog?  I look forward to reading posts from others that might encourage me in my walk and I hope to do the same for some of you.

Blessings,
Rashel

I am trying to decide if I want to spend a week in each room, doing thorough cleaning or just start with one room a day at first so I can get to more of the house quicker.  I will let you know what I decide.  Okay, I am going to read a few blogs while on my break and then get busy again.  Thanks for stopping by.

Blessings,

Rashel

Routine feels so good!!

Posted in The Making of My Home

I am feeling much better now.  I have finally shaken the lazy/no energy bug and have found my normal self.  I really think I had just gotten really run down, was fighting off a cold and got really out of my routine.  I think it was a combination of the three that really put me in a funk for awhile.  However, God is good and He answered my prayer to get my energy back and get back to normal.  This week we are just starting to get back into a routine, get the house clean a little and then, I think we will start school next week.

I have decided to jump back on the FlyLady bandwagon.  Her system really does help me to stay on track, if I would just follow through and do it.  I have to delete and ignore most of the emails, but her routines and zone cleaning do wonders for me and my home.  So, I am planning to do my weekly home blessing today, work in the zone and get all my laundry done.  It isn't bad, it just needs done before it gets out of hand.  That is my plan for the day.  What is yours?

Blessings,

Rashel
